The Besemer family homestead (c.1816) once served as an inn providing shelter & hospitality to travelers on the Catskill Turnpike. In 1875 the Elmira, Central & Northern Railroad installed tracks near the home. Josiah Besemer built a passenger & freight depot in use until rail service was discontinued in 1935.     "I've lived in the area for 13 years. I've lived in Northeast Ithaca specifically for 5 years. Northeast Ithaca is very competitive as far as buying a home. The people are great and Northeast Elementary including the Ithaca City School District is beyond amazing. Northeast Ithaca is close to Cornell University. There are many reasons why homes in in Northeast Ithaca are in high demand."
