8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child has been so happy at Garfield! The curriculum and extra curriculars are broad and great, and the teachers are fantastic. He is pushed academically, and I'm confident in the education and opportunity he's receiving, in and out of the classroom. Take a look at the college placement, and you'll get an idea of how good Garfield is. In terms of safety, my son feels very safe in the school, and I'm confident they're addressing the issues surrounding the school.Parent Review8mo ago10 Reviews - Madrona Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am extremely disappointed with Principal Carter. Over several years, I repeatedly advocated for my daughter’s appropriate placement and early grade advancement, but my concerns were ignored or deflected. She misrepresents facts, fails to communicate clearly, and does not follow through on serious issues.During kindergarten, my daughter faced multiple safety incidents in her classroom—being choked, slapped, and nearly losing a tooth. These incidents were not addressed properly, yet my daughter was penalized while the other children were not. When I requested a transfer for her safety, Principal Carter minimized the situation and failed to provide real solutions. Now, my daughter is placed in a K/1 split classroom with a first-year teacher, despite being academically and socially ready for a full first-grade classroom. Principal Carter’s explanations about class composition were inaccurate and misleading.Overall, she is rude, deflects responsibility, and avoids solutions. Interacting with her feels like dealing with one of her students rather than a school administrator. I do not trust her to act in the best interest of the students, and I strongly caution parents who expect transparency, accountability, and advocacy for their children.Parent Review7mo ago27 Reviews - Edmonds S. 7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is my son's first year of middle school and I was uncertain how the transition from elementary school would go. Despite Meany being a large school my son seems to have adapted to the environment fairly seamlessly. The teachers seem committed and engaged and I can confidently say it has vastly exceeded my expectations. The level of academic rigor seems quite satisfactory, he's learning a lot, has made new friends and without exception they all seem to be great kids. I had a lot of angst about the start of middle school but it's been much more straightforward than I expected.Parent Review11mo ago1 Reviews - Check out schools near 2000 E Union St.

"Research your street before moving. Some streets are fine and feel generally safe, others you couldn't pay me to visit at night, especially alone. be diligent, do your research."

"10 minutes or less. Lots of route options. I drive. Going to the airport is more tough. I usually take the rail but it takes an hour or so. "

"I don’t see many dogs being walked around my neighborhood. Lots of concrete, not much green. There are trees but I haven’t seen many dogs. Only once in a while. "

"The area around Seattle U feels safe with the security guards on campus and the police station a couple blocks away. It’s quiet most days but the weekends get crazy in the Pike/Pine/Broadway area. It’s not uncommon for to hear thumping music from neighbors in the buildings adjacent to the school. Not a whole lot of children around but sometimes people will bring their kids to the lawns at SU. "It's a great place to live, allowing you don't mind hipsters or homeless. The air smells of body odor and marijuana smoke. The streets are lined with old volvos and other obscure old cars, all of which take up the extremely limited parking. But that's fine, you don't need a car, you'll walk everywhere right. Nope, not without being accosted for change at every corner. Ride a bicycle then. Nope, all your money will go to medical bills for getting run over by the old volvos that take up all the parking. And that's not even the best part, who wouldn't want to pay $3000 for a studio apartment. It really doesn't get much better than Capitol Hill. Seattle : where the streets are paved with syringes."

"I have lived in this neighbor for over 17 years and my current location is great! Just blocks away from amazing restaurants, dance bars and all the stores that you need to live in action, arts, theatre and music packed Seattle. Parks within two blocks, dog friendly and totally walkable. "

"My location is right between Capitol Hill, Madison Park and Madison Valley, as well as a quick drive to the Central District. I am seconds away from Safeway and some really cute local bars and small restaurants! It's also a straight shot to work, which is great, by bus or car. The neighborhood is up and coming and it's been nice to see improvements and developments to make it more charming. I don't necessarily want to be wandering around late at night but it's getting safer. There are some very cute parks around too!"
