6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are so happy at the Hernandez! It’s a great community and many of the teachers have been at the school for a long time and are still excited to be back every year. We have one child in pre-K and one in second and the bilingual education is wonderful. The principal is great and very accessible, and there’s lots of parent engagement.Parent Review2y ago6 Reviews - Murphy K-8 School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is extremely bad. The students here are incredibly disrespectful, swear a lot, fight, bang on doors, and even fight on campus very frequently, especially in 7th grade where they push each other a lot. I repeat, fighting is extremely, extremely bad. Students hide in the restrooms smoking e-cigarettes, and if students swear, the teachers turn a blind eye. The skipping rate at this school is extremely high. For example, I was in recess in the gym until lunchtime, and for some reason another student pushed me hard. In short, if you're choosing a school for your child, avoid this one.Student Review4mo ago9 Reviews - Roger Clap Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is terrible. The student body has extreme behavior issues that prevent most teaching and learning from happening. In classrooms you will see kids throwing things and screaming, and ignoring staff. Students are mean to each other and disrespectful to adults. Academic performance is very low - only 5-10% of students are at grade level. There are no real consequences for student misbehavior or academic failure. Safety is a serious concern. There are constant student fights, property damage, and acts of violence against other students and staff. Used needles are regularly found on school grounds (staff does their best to mitigate this, but it is still extremely unsafe). I recommend that parents send their children elsewhere.Other Review9mo ago3 Reviews - Lilla G. Frederick Middle School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSome teachers are wonderful. It is NOT a school for high needs children although it says it is. Children do not receive the correct pull-outs for therapy according to their IEP's and the school is very hard to work with. I have had children on IEP's; this school outright lies through their director of SPED. They do not follow laws or regulations and my child is caught in the middle. His academics are well below average and they are telling me he's doing fine. No, he isn't. So if your child has any special needs, be forewarned.Parent Review2y ago9 Reviews - Check out schools near 185 Devonshire St.
