Posted by a parent on 3/21/2013I have very fond memories of being a student at David A. Ellis, and the Annex as well. While in the 4th grade, I was chosen to participate in the IMPACT program. I'm not even sure if the accelerated learning program is still in use. It surely was just the boost toward excellence I needed. I was a quiet, shy child and could very easily have disappeared into the background of a bustling class. What I got from the whole concept of "community" in the class was invaluable, and gave me the confidence I needed to continue on to UC Berkeley to receive my Ms degree. Hey, they don't still have those wax paper straws in the lunch room, do they? They always fell apart before my milk was gone! lol. Oh the memories!
Posted by a community member on 3/11/2011I VERY CLEARLY REMEMBER MY DAYS AT DAVID A. ELLIS ELEMENTARY AND DAVID A. ELLIS ANNEX BACK IN 1962-1966 I ALSO ATTENDED HENRY L. 6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are in our third year at the Mendell and have had nothing but a positive experience! The members of the staff are thoughtful, friendly, and engaged and there is a strong parental community that really cares for the school. The teachers are excellent and Ms. Bott, the principal, really cares about her students. We are looking forward to our younger child hopefully starting K1 there in the Fall.Parent Review6y ago - John F Kennedy Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageHi my name is Wanda G. I have 2 kids in the JFK and I believe the John F Kennedy School is a excellent school... offers a lot of programs suitable for our kids, with allot of concern for students & parents well been and communication. 95% of teachers are excellent and you can see they want the best for our kids instead of just working for a check and spending the summer off... me myself had been in programs involving me and my kids and had been times (actually must of the times) when is time to leave... (around 7:30PM), they are still there including the Principal (Miss Landing). My kids had been in JFK for their school years and I love it. When you walk in... they make you feel welcome. Can't complain about my 2nd home for my kids... cause that's how I see it. I know they are safe and having teacher with big concerns about safety.. make the JFK School one of the best school around.Parent Review9y ago - Nathan Hale School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was not happy when my son was assigned to this school since we live over 7 miles away and it takes him 45 minutes on the school bus. But we have realized that we WON the lottery! His teachers have been amazing. While he was on Ms.Hiatt's class she emailed constantly not matter what, I would receive a reply within 24 hours but usually the same day. The communication was amazing! I wish they expanded until 8th grade, its worth the trip!!Parent Review8y ago - Hernandez K-8 School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are so happy at the Hernandez! It’s a great community and many of the teachers have been at the school for a long time and are still excited to be back every year. We have one child in pre-K and one in second and the bilingual education is wonderful. The principal is great and very accessible, and there’s lots of parent engagement.Parent Review5mo ago - Trotter Elementary School
