Manning Elementary School

We’ve been at the Sumner two years and our very pleased, especially with the remote learning. If I could give the Sumner 4.5 stars I would (because hey no school is perfect and BPS facilities do need upgrading - though the Sumner has an amazing brand new playground). We’ve had two fabulous teachers and have been able to connect with other families. The school is large but I have never gotten the impression that it’s overcrowded. I love that the preschool classrooms are by themselves on the lower level and likewise the wraparound care for the youngest grades. I think the school and especially the parent council try hard to reach out to engage families and are especially concerned with doing so equitably, given how diverse the school is.

Mission Hill School is an amazing school in the Boston Public School district. My two kids attend K2 and K0 there, and their teachers have been incredible. I cannot imagine having more thoughtful, talented, engaged and engaging teachers--they never cease to amaze us. We feel very fortunate to be apart of the Mission Hill School community. Although we've only been there for two years, I highly recommend Mission Hill School based on our experience there so far.

One of the best schools I have ever known, I had to move and my son left with a broken heart. He always talks to me fondly about the great teacher he had here and how much he misses her.

I only write this to warn anyone that be very careful with your financial dealings with this school that is part of a large collection of schools. Make sure it is correct the first time. They go into hiding, if you need any payments back for anything done previously with them. The phone line is automated with only a voice mail. No return phone calls. Emails are never returned. THERE ARE 4,300 OF THESE SCHOOLS. Be extra careful.

Poor leadership. Discipline by public shaming. Blame student who is getting bullied. Lack of community. No diversity. No social/emotional support. Too many tests. Emphasis is on results.

Great school. My son is learning better study habits and organization. Teachers are great and very approachable. Great communication. Good bunch of new friends on and off the field, Dexter is Great!
