What Locals Say about Allen

  • Trulia User
"Sidewalks are unkempt, both in terms of trash/needles and snow removal. Loose dogs are often an issue here and have a tendency to attack. "

"I usually Lyft or Uber. There are many busses on my street to take. Never taken one before. Some people in the area also bike around I’ve seen them chained up. A good spot for getting around "

"A very quiet morning bustling afternoon and rambunctious nights around here for sure. I don’t go out much but it’s a very happening area if you’re a night time person. Just watch your belongings. People beg at night. "

"Most dogs in the area are very nice to people and other dogs from what I’ve seen. I wish there were nicer receptacles and doggy bag stations in case anyone forgets hopefully one day. Dogs are allowed in the patio area of perks and few other locations down Elmwood and elsewhere. It’s very chaotic on the weekends walking your dog when the bars are just closing around 3am and 4am. After 6pm don’t be surprised if while walking your dog someone asks you for money. That’s just the way it is lately. I never walk my dog with valuables on me for this reason. Lovely area for a walk especially on summer days and afternoons due to the well maintained gardens and parks. "

"This is a high volume traffic area. There aren’t many parks or play areas for children, but it is very close to canal side and the outer harbor is less than 5 miles away "

"Great side streets for dog walking. Lots of friendly owners. Many tiny parks and unique houses to see. Probably avoid Allen St as it’s mostly bars/restaurants but surrounding areas are swell! "

"There are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from, it’s close to downtown and it’s a pretty safe neighborhood, it’s also pretty quiet on my street "

"Just a great neighborhood. A little stressful if no off street parking. It is a entertainment and historic preservation district, so just be aware of the little challanges associated with living here. If you want to live near downtown and the medical corridor this is it."
