About this House

Beautiful 3 bedroom, 1 BA, Craftsman Style HOUSE. 1300 sq ft. Perfect for adults: best for 1 couple, 2 singles or 1 single and 1 couple. This is due to the location of the bathroom. This house is NOT appropriate for 3 singles, or students. Arts & Crafts house built in 1911, with original redwood details and many built-in cabinets. Look at the pictures... Great location just west of central Berkeley, in an easy-going neighborhood of mostly single-family homes. Amazing walking score - 8 minute walk to BART and downtown, 5 minute walk to Trader Joe's or the Theater District, 12 minute walk to UC. Beautiful area. You will love this location. Hardwood floors in entry hall, living room and dining room. Built-in cabinets in original condition. Leaded glass. Beautiful original light-elm wood paneling. Carpet in two bedrooms. Comfortable old-style bath tub / shower combo. Central heat throughout - modern heater and water heater. Remodeled kitchen some years ago. Large, newer, bottom-freezer fridge, dish washer, sink with hand-held faucet, garbage disposal, etc. Large, eat-in kitchen with French doors to huge deck overlooking large garden and redwood tree. People really love this. Private washer and dryer in the basement. Large basement with lots of storage for bikes, etc. Driveway parking for one car. Non-smoking only.

Lease through 6/30/2027, then 12 month renewals. I prefer long term.

"South Berkeley is a transitioning neighborhood as most places around America there is gentrification going on. Berkeley overall is a good place to live with good schools"
  • Joiyao

"Walk to entertainment, supermarket and transportation. Includes detached 500 sq ft. art studio"
  • Rie Y.
"This is a fairly quiet street, with some foot and car traffic since it connects to Sacramento Street and University Ave. But it's much more neighborhood-oriented than it seems, and close to daycare/dog park/cafe/bakery."
  • mysolosusan
"I live almost on the corner of Bancroft and Roosevelt, and have lived in central Berkeley for two straight decades now. It's a great neighborhood - I see there's supposed to be a bit higher crime not far from here, but in all these years I've seen only one crime - a mugging wherein a Berkeley high graduate about 19 years old, tried to steal an earbud for a cell phone from a high school girl. He didn't get the earbud and the police caught him and a couple others with the minimum of fuss. That's it, although I've heard of a couple other small crimes more toward university. To live here is to feel very safe, and really be in walking distance to UC, and all kinds of shops, restaurants and so on. The little tot parks are real nice, especially the one on Roosevelt, and walking is very enjoyable due to all the lovely landscaping done in this area around private homes. Neighbors are great. I love living here except for having to get a parking permit - which is cheap and easy to do really."
