  • Terri Armstrong
"Very easy and calm commute with minimal traffic. No public transportation nearby. Lots of options for roads to travel. "
  • Len Hatton
"Close to highway, I’d say it’s about a mile from a bus stop. Close to stores and Brookshire Park and BooneShine Brewery. One con is there is only one switchback road into and out of neighborhood."
  • Briannalf2018
"Childcare is a major hassle, but the parks and school systems are worth it. Winter can be hard to find activities, especially for smaller kids"
  • Kay Alonzy
"Very safe. I have been living here for 3 months now. I enjoy the community. The apartments and housing is very expensive. Most of them are overpriced "
  • Leann Richard
"You can take your dog to a lot of restaurants and they have water bowls outside stores downtown. A lot of places to take your dogs walking or hiking. Beautiful trails "
  • Trulia User
"it's very quiet, but it's nothing like the city or suburbs. most people will be friendly, and will help you in anyway if you don't push your agenda on them."
  • Suzie S.
"I am a biz owner here & have seen things change dramatically in past 12 years. No long-term rental housing unless you are a student or uber-wealthy, and you don't own a pet. Completely over-saturated with corporate-owned, short-term Air BnB's & VRBO's. Summer traffic is unreal along with roadwork. Tourists can be incredibly rude & the Mack trucks, semis & loggers on the 2-lane highways are dangerous. Need to own a helicopter or be one of the uber-wealthy who has access to the golf club heli to & from the airport. "
  • Matthew L.
"I’m retired, no commute. However, the college provides a lot of traffic. This improves in the summer months, and the time between thanksgiving and the new year. It’s a small price to pay to live in this area."
  • Laura M.
"Boone has great schools and tons of family activities. Lots of hiking and river adventures, too! Love it here!"
  • Rachel G.
"Busy and congested in the mornings, not bad during off-peak. Public transportation is great, though, and utilized by students and community members alike."
  • Megelkraut
"Good neighbors, always nice yards. Friendly dogs and plenty of them. Quiet setting, Mountain View’s. Tucked away but only 7 minutes from APP...................."
  • Sara J.
"Such a great place to live, much better than my hometown: Rocky Mount, NC. Very nice community. Plenty of restaurants, stores, and things to do. Both free and not."
  • Megelkraut
"There are plenty of dogs in the neighborhood so you feel like everyone is a dog lover. My dog ran in someone else’s yard and they just said what a cutie. Some people get mad about it but seems like everyone is super friendly in the sunny graves "
  • Mike E
"There’s many family’s in the neighborhood with kids playing outside so a good safe place to raise a family or live by yourself. "
  • Ljfero
"Close to activities, schools, and work. People are very friendly. Great place to raise kids. Very safe. "
  • Djohnsoa
"Plenty of space for walking dogs and a nice area dog park nearby open daily. A couple of full service pet stores also in town."
  • Jolie L.
"lots of students and all kinds of outdoor activities for the summertime! might catch cabin fever in the winter though.. "
  • Mhmarissamh
"I live in college housing in town, so it is very accessible via walking or bus. However, I have lived in neighborhoods further away from downtown. In those neighborhoods, it is much more necessary to have a car. But I’m all areas, everyone is cautious of walkers, and I always have felt safe walking my dog, both at night and during the day (even as a female). "
  • Brantdvs
"Just moved to the neighborhood and Boone area. Everyone is friendly and love the area. Beautiful neighborhood and great views."
  • Ipman8154
"lived here for 2 years and the neighbors keep to themselves and are very nice also they are pet friendly love dogs. everyone works and has friends come over. "
  • Jacob C.
"I have lived in Boone for three years and have come to love it! It started out with me and my now fiancé being in the area for school at ASU and we just couldn’t find a good enough excuse to leave. Boone has become our forever place and if you like friendly people cool nice weather and a fun good atmosphere then Boone is the place for you!"
  • Larneddana52
"Lived here for five years and wouldn’t live anywhere else it’s beautiful quiet safe not crowded however it’s a bit expensive and hard to find affordable housing "
