My son is a freshman, and after attending back-to-school night, I was thoroughly impressed with EVERY teacher and the nice campus. It made me want to go back in time and go to (this) high school. I'm very happy my son is attending this high school. San Rockin' Ramon is a great place to live and raise children.

We have been at Neil Armstrong for the last two years:Year 1 we dealt with a teacher who seemed fun but would call out students at the beginning of each day and announce to the whole class who was “behind” my daughter loves school but hated the app based math games (for context she was one of 3 students in the district to score 100 in math) and was being called out everyday for not being far enough in the game, which resulted in extreme anxiety about going to school. This was not addressed at all.Year 2: we had the most amazing and understand teacher who cared so much about the students as whole people, not just as scores. The students have a separate PE teacher, who was less than fun which seems to be the consensus across the board. She told my daughter’s partner in PE to choose a different partner if she wanted a better time in running in front of my daughter. I brought this up as shaming kids is unacceptable and shaming kids to their peers is unacceptable. The response was she’s been a teacher for ages and she’s great. No accountability at all. In general I stay out of the specifics of my daughter’s school stuff, I check her homework, discuss her assignments, etc. but I consider part of school learning to be responsible for her own work. Shaming kids though is so beyond unacceptable, and often sticks with kids for the rest of their lives. I have found Neil Armstrong to be completely indifferent and acting without any accountability when it comes to shaming students by teachers. As a single parent I find different areas and groups respond differently to raised concerns; I have no doubt that a higher income double parent family would be treated differently raising the same concerns at this school. As far as safety and security, it’s a safe area, but I have entered the school to drop something off and stops at the front for over 5 min with no one there, there is no second doorway to prevent entering the school at large.

Dance in PE is boring and too hard. Aides are rude to special education students. Teachers eat food right before 7th and 8th grade lunch which makes students hungry. Classes between grades for the same subject is often uncoordinated. Math in 7th grade is much harder compared to 6th grade math.
