What Locals Say about Wayne

Review Highlights

Wayne, NJ: suburban ease with lakes, top schools, quick highway links and NYC transit at hand. Loved for safety, friendly neighbors, parks, events, shopping, and easy commuting options. Downsides: pricey with high taxes; car dependence, limited buses, and occasional mosquitoes.

"I drive using my car to get to work. There’s local train stations that can be used and they are within 10 min from my house. They also have a bus terminal fairly close too. "
  • Adam D.
"I'm part of the community in Wayne as just a college student, but there is a lot to love about the area. Much of Wayne's development runs through a valley, and atop the ridge that forms three sides of the valley. This means that, despite the Jersey aesthetics, it's a rather pretty place to live, and most of the single family homeowners around here treasure their property and maintain it as such."
  • Michael A.
"Holiday parades and 4th of July Celebrations. Farmer’s market on certain weekends. Car shows and Wayne Day!"
  • Danawig7
"Hard to say since I’m not a parent, other than the schools are great, there are tons of kids here and it’s a very family oriented place with lots of activities. "
  • Danawig7
"I live 15 minutes from my job compared to the 45+ minutes it used to take me when I lived in Jersey City. I work in Fairfield.I don’t work in the city anymore, but there are buses right outside the complex that go to the city so it is a very convenient place to live for city workers as well. After 20 years in New York and Jersey City, when was the exact change I needed. I love it here. I’ll never go back to living in a city after this."
  • Tarek S.

Also close to excellent shopping as well as easy bus access into NYC. I'm retiring with this year but after 43 years here in Wayne, I will truly miss it. "
