  • Karin

  • Courtney
"Great education and very safe neighborhood. Grosse Ile is considered the safest community in Michigan. The community puts a lot of effort into keeping the city safe and beautiful. "
  • T'Angler
"Island living just a short drive from downtown. Great wildlife, boating and fishing. Short boat trip to Canada too, eh?"
  • Francesca S.
"It can be difficult on days when one of the bridges are closed for maintenance. "
  • Dlssmart

  • Slapekas
"It’s an outdoor community. It has great bike trails and natural area to walk. There are a lot of festivals and community activities."
  • Dlssmart
"It is safe, full of trees, wildlife and birds. Small community feel, know some of our neighbors but only lived here less than a year. "
  • Elijah T.
"We have been on the island since 2011, and have fallen in love with the area. It is not uncommon for us to see deer wandering through our property, and the public schools here are excellent! Our home is also on the bicycle trail, and is only 2 blocks from the sledding hill (both of which our kids love). The property is ~ 1/3 of an acre; giving our dogs plenty of room to run. We have gardens on the property, which have produced significant amounts of pesticide free, organic, food for us and our children. We have upgraded the hot water heater, and have reinsulated the entire attic, as well as the exterior walls. We all wish we didn't have to move, but I "
  • Bjensen
"Excellent schools and the safest place in Michigan. Water, trees wildlife all around. Township provides: Many miles of bike trails, a farm/community center, golf course, 600 plus acres of greenspace with trails, airport, marina, sledding hill, soccer fields, kayak launch, lots of woods/wildife. Two private golf clubs and three private boat clubs, a tennis club, alpaca farm, Azalia farm/nursery. Water/boats everyhwere. This is a great, close-knit island community. The fire and police forces are top notch. Traffic is calm and slow. You just cannot beat this place for families and retirees. "
  • Bjensen
"You will not find a better place to live for families and retirees. Note: I did nto say a better place to live in Michigan - you will be hard pressed to find a better place to live period. It is like living at summer camp all year. Water everywhere. Lots of open space - woods and wildlife, virtually no crime, phenomenal schools fabulous housing options, reasonable/rational law enforcement, code enforcement and the like (not crazy or anal like some places). The place is kind of lie a throwback to the 1950s. Downsides: Price is high, access to freeway takes 15 minutes, no real nightlife or shopping on the island (other than groceries); no diversity. Kids come out of the schools well educated, but often very naive. "
