"back roads, close to town, near highway, lots of farms, wild life, quiet . terrible with fleas and other insects."

"Owner retired to this area after living in more crowded Baltimore/Washington area. The air is much cleaner, the pace slower, the people are more friendly, and there are plenty of things to do, including local festivals, theater, sports, parks, golf, skiing, and of course shopping (big stores in both Hagerstown and Chambersburg about 20 minutes away). The same distance gets you to modern medical centers. Crime is very low in the Greencastle area, and the downtown is becoming a tourist area due to all of the antique shops, small quaint businesses, and variety of unique dining options. The populace of the surrounding areas tends to be very conservative, but Greencastle has many residents who have moved here from different locals. The area is one of the top ten counties in the USA for availability of local produce. AND, the cost of living is quite low. Climate is less extreme than than in Maryland - less humidity, less snow, and less severe storms. Summer temperatures are about 3 degrees less than in Columbia, MD where I used to live. And, there are plenty of people around here who know how to make and fix things. Many people use the Mennonite crafts people in the area for help. If you want to walk down the street where most everyone says "Hello" with a smile, then you should consider Greencastle."

"When we first moved here, Greencastle school district was a sought after area to move to but, it has changed for the worst over the years! I highly recommend finding another area such as JB to move to. The traffic has become excessive as well! Although the area is somewhat growing, you still need to drive to everywhere!! The closest grocery store is 6 miles and the nearest mall is 12 miles. We moved here from Maryland and find the Taxes to be ridiculous here as they were in MD. In fact, in our community, taxes are VERY high that we see people moving out just to avoid paying the high taxes!! Propane is the energy source in this neighborhood. It costs us about $5000/year just in propane!! This could be our house but neighbors have similar complaints! My advise is, stay away from this neighborhood and stay away from Greencastle!!! In fact, avoid PA altogether if you can!!"

"If excellent schools, friendly people, lots of room to move about, and convenience to decent shopping is important to you this is the place to live. Only downside is it is about 75 minutes to a major airport. Great place to raise a family. "
