What Locals Say about South Valley

Review Highlights

South Valley, Albuquerque: breezy rural-meets-city living with roomy lots and easy access. Big half-acre lots, friendly vibe, farm animals, fiestas, quick drive to stores and freeways. Pockets of crime, few sidewalks, speeding; safer behind gates; noise on holidays near town.

"No dog parks and not very safe to walk your dog. Dog may go missing from your yard just like packages do"

"The old historic homes and buildings. Wouldn’t live in barelas though as it not a very safe neighborhood. To close to downtown area and train station where the homeless hangout. "

"My neighborhood is very safe for children, my neighbors have owned their home for years and everyone has 1/2 acre or more. Everyone knows everyone, there’s not a lot of houses for sale & not a lot of new people moving in. My kids can walk down the street and there’s not a lot of traffic. I love it because it’s so beautiful, there’s a lot of trees, and open land, horses, and wild rabbits! "

"I drive and I jump on the freeway! I love driving in my neighborhood because all my neighbors have at least 1/2 acre or more and it’s like living in the country! There’s trees and horses and the landscapes are beautiful "

It very calm and unique place to live. I would not live in any other neighborhood. I would highly recommend any body to come live in this neighborhood. "

"it's a place just outside of the city where you can have farm animals but still have the amenities of the city. everyone is really kind and friendly."

"I have lived in this neighborhood for the past 5 years and had the chance to see this area of the city grow while still being quite and rustic. its unique in that it is a farming community with some amazing neighbors that is still part of the city. it has old and new combined. most of my neighbors built their house in the 50's-70's and the original owners. there are tons of fields and pastures throughout this neighborhood. most people own various farm animals (cows, chickens, horses, sheep and goats) and are able to have a rustic lifestyle minutes from a metropolis. "

"Awesome place. In a rush rush world. The South Valley is a little more lay back. People in the community take the time to know one another. Wouldn't trade it for the world"
