As a former student, it is a great school, just a few complaints.1. Many of the staff seem to have a condescending attitude towards students who did nothing2. The new counselor seems to halfheartedly address issues such as bullying, and has even laughed at bullying reports.Other than those two problems, this is a great school to go to.

Don't suggest having your kid attend this school if you're having issues with a parenting plan.They will have the principal serve you papers.It's my child's school not a courtroomCompletely inappropriate

It is our experience with this school that they will toss out any neurodivergent learner they have in their care. The leadership at the school is cold and uncaring, and it shows in entire staff. The entire time our little one attended this school, it felt as though they were looking for ways to get our little out of there as fast as possible. The office staff is rude and impatient, the teachers are overwhelmed, disorganized and have little support. The administrators are more concerned with their image than the actual students attending the school. This is the the highest rated and highest funded elementary school in the entire district. But, I question if it is only this way because they remove any special needs or neurodivergent learners from their school. The worst part is the district supports and encourages it!! After speaking with several other parents in the district, it seems that our experience is the norm. All the funding that goes to the school should be shared with the other elementary schools in the district that actually support learners of all capabilities! The school is nothing but a show, and a poor one at that.

I attended HCS as a student from Kindergarten to 5th grade. Let's just say when I entered Drum in 6th grade I was above and beyond in all areas of academics. If you want a real school that isn't the normal hum drum lamentations of public school and actually cares about a strong curriculum, small class sizes, and family engagement in a faith based setting raising strong, critically thinking little humans; there is no better option in the UP area than HCS.

Our son Robbie has a deep interest in sharks, honestly, “obsession” might be the more accurate word, and his teachers didn’t just notice it, they embraced it. They created a sensory table in the classroom and thoughtfully filled one area with sharks with him in mind. When Robbie walked in and saw it, his whole face lit up. He spent the entire week talking about “his” sharks and proudly telling us how the teachers made that space especially for him. It made him feel truly special. The teachers and staff at Charles Wright take the time to get to know each child and make them feel cared for, understood, and seen. This is just one of the many reasons we trust Charles Wright with caring for our children.
