"Cowen Park is nearby. Most places are dog friendly and you rarely see loose dogs. The streets are really busy though so be careful. "

"Moved to this area not too long ago, there’s not a lot of light at night, but streets are pretty walkable, also neighbors are friendly. I do see some homeless from time to time."

"U District Food Walk happens annually on The Ave (University Way NE). Convenient neighborhood for students since it is close to campus and public transit. Most apartment buildings tend to be on the older side (~20-30 years+). Overall good choice if you’re a student at UW. "

"This is a college student neighborhood and there are not many children in the neighborhood. There are great restaurants, museums and live events in the neighborhood and university. "

"U district is nice. The ave near UW can be scary at night. Lots of drug addicts and homeless and crime. Cars are broken into in this are fairly often even in nice areas.. wheike this sounds aweful it is quite beautiful. Close walk to bars, good food, multiple groceries and gyms. Between gasworks, ravenna, and greenlake parks. Favorite place ive lived and i have been visited every state and lived in many."

"Only special in the rise in crime and the complete lack of police. There is a significant increase in homelessness’s and mental health issues making this increasingly a dangerous place to live. And it’s very expensive. "

"I’ve lived in U District for 3 years near the Ave and its bustling during the day and night. I feel safe when the sun is out but I avoid going out alone at night. "

"A mixture of college students, homelessness, and families. University of Washington keeps a bustle through the neighborhood during the school year. A difference of one block can move you from a college campus to a peaceful neighborhood. Lots of restaurants, shops and businesses at University Village with a quiet beautiful Ravenna Park just down the street. "

"No space for dogs here no place to run or get exercise. Too expensive for the crime and drug problems seen every single day. Extremely loud in and out of home. Lots of loud students screaming and homeless people screaming in the middle of the night. Dirty and tons of vomit in ally ways. Many break ins in buildings. Neighbors turn blind eye to everyone. "

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur son went to UCDS from K-5. We spent six amazing years at UCDS and were incredibly sad to leave the school at the end of our time there! We loved the focus on SEL, how they taught fundamentals and stretched skills across all fields of academics, and really emphasized on building a diverse and fun community. UCDS creates a yearly theme that guides their curriculum, seamlessly integrating it into all the activities for the kids. This approach ensures that what they learn in one subject can be applied in another, making learning a more interconnected experience. UCDS is a wonderful school and we valued every minute we were part of the school and community.Parent Review1mo ago40 Reviews - University Cooperative School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur son thrived so well at U Co-op since Kindergarten in the pandemic. His love and passion of learning is the work and culture of the school. The teachers are skilled, thoughtful, very personal and meet every child at their level. Word can't say enough of the community. Strong parent involvement was strongly encourage. The community was like family to us! Childhood is a journey, not a race. We really wish every child in the world should experience their childhood at U Co-op!! The school is magical and truly helps shape children to make the world a better place!!Parent Review1mo ago42 Reviews - Academy For Precision Learning
