My son attended Winding Creek Elementary from 2024–2026, and I also worked there as a daily building substitute during the 2024–25 school year, so I saw the school from both a parent's and an employee's perspective.While my son's classroom teachers were caring and dedicated, I left with concerns about the school's overall priorities. There is a heavy emphasis on standardized testing, with many students spending significant time on Chromebooks instead of engaging in a more well-rounded elementary education.I was also disappointed by the amount of screen time during specials, including PE, where videos often replaced active, teacher-led instruction. Music was the only special my son consistently enjoyed. Art lacked structure, and Spanish was replaced with a STEM class that often felt unstructured.Lunch and recess also felt overly restrictive. If you want to make public schools fun again, start by making lunch and recess enjoyable. When conflicts arise during games, students should be guided through resolving them—not have the game or activity banned altogether. Those moments are valuable opportunities to teach communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.Finally, I was disappointed by the administration's lack of communication. After sending multiple emails requesting a recommendation letter for my son, I never received a response.There are many dedicated teachers at Winding Creek, and I appreciate their hard work. However, based on my experiences as both a parent and staff member, I don't feel the school's overall approach provided the elementary school experience I was hoping for.

I had no idea that my son's teacher has to decide for my son to attend summer school meanwhile they're saying my son is behind and yet she didn't signed him for summer school. According to her she saying " I thought science and social studies are not important to him" at least the parents should be involved in the decision making of their child. I have had several meetings with them and complains some even labeled my son being disabled because he's behind.

The newest administration does not foster strong parent–teacher relationships and positive school–community connections. Principal does not perform her due diligence to address parental concerns and has a nonchalant attitude towards supporting students needs. A sense of superiority and power trips accompanies some staff members resulting in an uninviting environment.

This is a very good school I went there since 2nd grade it was amazing I made such amazing friends there and I learned new things

Such a wonderful school with great teachers across all grade levels.. I have had 4 kids attend MBE and while small issues have popped up over the years the school and staff quickly addressed the issues.. Kids will be kids and things happen, but the staff step up immediately and get issues taken care of.. The school counselors are a dream come true, they take such good care of kids. Front of office staff are outstanding.

Never had a problem with the teachers but management is HORRIBLE. So disrespectful and unprofessional to parents and kids. Glorified daycare.
