The teachers here are pretty good, especially the tenured ones. Unfortunately, the school's principal and assistant Principals keeps pushing good teachers out and bringing in underqualified ones. The number of good teachers that have left the past few years is startling. The community here is friendly and engaged. Overall, I give the teaching staff a 4/5, the community a 5/5, and the Principal and APs a 1/5.The Principal and Assistant Principals do not engage with the community at all, and are barely present at school events like concerts, plays, and programs. The place is still in ok shape due to great students, great parents, and pretty good teachers. However, the missing ingredient to a great environment is a School Administration that is friendly, engaged, and cares about learning and children. Sometimes there is bullying and the administration seems to ignore it or wipe it under the rug out of self-preservation. It often seems like they don't care about the students, the community, or even the teachers. Oakton, Va is a wonderful place and it's too bad that the School Administration seems to have it out for this community.

No good teacher specially teacher a are not kind

We've been here for 2 years and it is a third elementary school for my son. It appeared to be the worst - my son loved playing viola until he came here, he loved to attend scholl until coming to this one. But the worst was poor family engagement - zero feedback on my son

I was a student at Daniels Run last year, and I would not recommend sending your kids here. I was bullied by the other students after being there for less than a month. My Mother contacted the school about the bullying, but they barely stepped in. I was isolated most of my sixth grade year, as the teachers did nothing to stop the endless bullying. The teachers here act like they hate children, and the administrators aren't much better. I was punished multiple times for simply standing up for myself, and I was even given lunch detention for getting up at lunch to throw away my trash. This school also has a zero tolerance policy for fighting, which is good in theory, but when I face punched in the face, and I pushed the kid back, I was sent to the office. Don't throw away what should be an experience that shapes your who your kids will be by sending your them here.
