    "Commute is great. Many access points to various surrounding cities. You can be in Suffolk, Virginia Beach, or Newport News in about twenty minutes and to Norfolk in about ten."

    "I used to live in this area and I could say that it is safe. The only thing that might bother you, is if you live close by the train tracks, train can be noisy and most of the time, ambulance & cop cars pass by portlock road."

    "I've lived here for 9 years. Had two children grow up here from babies. We ride bikes and skateboards throughout the neighborhood. Everyone is friendly, if you are social- the neighborhood folks help one another out."

    "Everyone in South Norfolk treat each other like family, so helpful and caring. Kids play outside, public transportation is available. Stores and public places near by, nice parks for kids. Lived in South Norfolk all my life. "

    "Was a little worried when I first moved into south Norfolk but I have really enjoyed the neighborhood so far. I feel comfortable walking my dog, there is a nice park near by, and my neighbor is so nice and friendly. There is a neighborhood watch group which makes me feel at ease but I have had zero problems or have felt uncomfortable even walking my dog at night. Street lights could be better but not bad. There is a dollar general within walking if I need something quick and the library is VERY nice. I like it here!"

    "It's becoming more up and modern. Cleaning up the streets. More of an older crowd lives in the area. Love the older homes look on the outside but open living space on the inside. I believe the schools could be better but they are pretty decent. "

    "I love this neighborhood, I know almost my entire block. everyone is very friendly and they all have barbeques all the time. we are all very close, and being that I am in the military its hard to say goodbye, however gotta stay on the move. beautiful homes inside and out! your family would love it here too!
