Green Needles

I’ll keep this short. My child has a new teacher this year, and thankfully things have been fine so far. However, my previous experiences with this school left a bad taste in my mouth. When I advocated for my child and eventually filed a grievance, I did not feel heard, supported, or treated with the empathy I expected from school administration.Since the new principal took over about a year ago, I honestly feel the level of communication and support has not been the same. I truly miss the previous principal and the way concerns seemed to be handled before. As a parent of color, I also walked away from my experience questioning whether race played a role in how seriously my concerns were taken. I can’t speak for anyone else, but that was genuinely how the experience made me feel. I only hope moving forward that every parent and child is treated with the same respect, understanding, and consideration.
