We’ve had a really positive experience at Ira B. Jones. What stands out most is the sense of community—our child feels known, supported, and genuinely cared for by both teachers and staff. The school does a great job of balancing strong academics with a focus on character and belonging.We’ve seen growth not just academically, but in confidence and independence. Teachers are thoughtful about meeting students where they are and providing opportunities to challenge them when they’re ready. Communication with families has also been consistent and helpful.It’s not a perfect school (no school is), but it’s one where people are committed to doing what’s best for kids, and that makes a big difference

I would not send you special needs child there.If they're autistic can't speak if they have any special needs, I would not send them here.I city school district does not care about how this principle treats their students.I should know because my son's autistic and now have the home school.Because the way they treated him last year.Wow, another student beat on my daughter.Nothing ever happened so child's special needs piece of s***

Awesome school. It may be small but it makes it a lot like a family. Teachers and staff really care for all students and families.

We have had such a positive experience with Asheville Montessori School. What stands out most to us is how genuinely the teachers know and care for the children. Our daughter is seen as a whole person — her interests, personality, strengths, and needs are respected, while she is also encouraged to grow in her independence, confidence, and relationships with others.We especially appreciate the balance between giving children freedom to explore and providing a thoughtful, intentional environment for learning. Our daughter comes home excited about what she is doing at school, talks about her teachers and friends with so much affection, and has grown tremendously in both her academic skills and her ability to navigate the world independently.The school also creates a wonderful sense of community. Families are welcomed and included, communication with teachers feels open and accessible, and there is a real emphasis on kindness, respect, curiosity, and caring for one another.Choosing a school for your child can feel like such a big decision, and we have been incredibly grateful for the experience our family has had at Asheville Montessori. It has been a place where our daughter feels safe, loved, capable, and excited to learn — which is exactly what we hoped to find.

We stand ready to support any student who is struggling in any way. We have a full time certified Doctor of Psychology on staff as our school counselor, and she is an excellent resource for students struggling in this way.
