I’m writing this as a former student who attended Ross/Woodward from out of town to urge families to be cautious when considering this school.My experience was very difficult. For two full years, we did not have a consistent math teacher, which forced my family to pay for an expensive tutor so I wouldn’t fall behind. Academically, the school struggled to deliver a strong education.Beyond that, the school environment was challenging. There was frequent bullying, racism, and rude behavior among students. Fights were common, and an “urban/street culture” often took priority over learning. As a girl who values peace, I felt unsafe on multiple occasions.One incident stands out: when a boy tried to fight me, I went to the principal for help because I was scared. Instead of addressing the situation, I was dismissed from the office and sent back to class with the same student. This left me feeling unprotected and unheard.Safety, academics, and student culture are serious concerns here. I strongly advise parents and students to research carefully and consider other options. My time at Ross/Woodward was not a positive one, and I hope others can avoid similar struggles.

Amazing staff and families. Great community. PTA is always making the school a fun learning enviroment

This school used to let parents help out on firld day, but not anymore. N prepared to ask for an IEE if you want your child tested. They will try to push it off as long as possible. Theres basically no whole school behavior incentive. There needs to be a veteran principal to replace this guy.

My son Jr. is currently in kindergarten at Deer Run Elementary, and we have had such a positive experience this year! He was not in prek, so I was a bit worried. His teacher, Mrs. Ragaini, has been absolutely wonderful. She is patient, kind, and truly attentive to her students individual needs. We appreciate her so very much.Since starting school, I’ve seen so much growth in my son!! Not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well. He feels safe, supported, and excited to go to school each day, which means everything to me as a parent.Mrs. Ragaini communicates clearly and makes herself available when parents have questions or concerns. It’s clear she genuinely cares about her students and wants them to succeed. She has an amazing routine! We are very grateful for the nurturing and structured environment at Deer Run Elementary. It has been a great start to my son’s educational journey!

Horrible school. They ignore bullies and get physical with the children. My child was getting hit by another and all that other child had to do was write an apology note. There was another bully as well who was constant. A teacher informed me that there were other parents complaining as well about this student bullying. The final straw was when when my kid had nail marks on their arm from an adult who works there. DCF was called on them. I would not recommend this school.
