"This is a unique neighborhood and I enjoy all of the parks and places and people and things that are available to me in my neighborhood. It really is truly home! "

"Not enough sidewalks and the cars are always speeding. Downtown is fairly dog friendly, yet I don’t understand why pets are not welcome at the farmer’s market; at least nobody enforces the rule."

"Not enough access to public transportation. No busses, train stops, pick-up areas. Not enough sidewalks on busy main road areas. Including Chesterfield road, Lovers Lane, Roxbury through Corey Lane/Riverview, Upper Pattagansett through Ancient Highway, Bridebrook Rd. , Plants Dam, Dean Road area. Should all be accessible easily on foot. "

"I work from home and do not commute. Getting around locally is easy. Easy access to I-95, I-395 and Route Nine. Short distance to beaches, shopping. "

"People here are mostly gentle and kind. My cat went missing once and the community exploded with kind words and support. Always plenty to do between Rocky Neck, the boardwalk, and all the cozy shops and parks. Beautiful scenery at all times of year. We moved here during the winter and the cute little street lights on Main street were done up like we had stepped on the set of a Hallmark movie."

"Easy access to 95 and 395 makes commuting on the shoreline and upstate really easy. Traffic can be heavy in the summer but it’s worth it to live in such a nice place. "

"Car necessary. Way up on a hill. Could never get around without a car. We love it here ( only been 10 months) but it is a little small and isolated. "

"We live in a tucked-away community that is close to Niantic but not easily within walking distance. We’re too high up on a hill and too far away from anything significant not to have a car. "

"Lots of dogs, all friendly, with plenty of places for dogs to exercise. Most people are very dog-friendly as well, and dog owners are considerate about cleaning up after their dogs."

"People walk their dogs—always on leash—and I’ve never met an unfriendly dog or handler. We also have a swimming area that’s dog-friendly. It’s a good place for nice dogs and nice people."

"Cute little beach area. Private beaches are not huge but do the trick. The beaches are on the river not the sound. Not all pet owners are courteous with cleaning up after their pets. Making changes such as fencing or a carport are next to impossible due to zoning regulations and neighbors making a big stink. Who wants to live with that?"

"A lovely and safe community with tennis, golf, boat slip and beaches. Peeps are screwing with this site. It's not even near the train track! Million $ homes to cottages. One way in and out-no crime at all-ever! Stone wall entrance that winds bordered with hiking trails and water views of Niantic Bay."

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averagewhat a wonderful school!. The blue ribbon adds up! my son is in 7th grade and is in the honors algebra math each day he comes home with a variety of things he has learned during the school day. after each trimester he gets faculty commendations or high honers. We recently just moved and my son went to this old school where he wasn't getting challenged enough and got bored, however, at this school his grades and education have skyrocketed! and it's not that this school is too easy. since he is in honors math he comes home with packets of work and loves it!. in his la class they read a bunch of classics and write essays and opinion-based pieces. oh, how he loves the teachers! especially his math teacher. and what a diverse spectrum of clubs. he loves to partake in the math counts one where they study and compete in states. my family adores this school.Parent Review4y ago10 Reviews - Lillie B. 9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe lived in PA before moving to East Lyme. So we have experienced one other elementary school besides Lillie B. Haynes. I can’t speak highly enough about Lillie B Haynes. They were a better school than we could have ever imagined. The social skills alone that they teach every morning as the kids are arriving to school is enough to make every parent jump for joy. The principal is a wonderful, warm, kind woman that teaches love and kindness in her school. The security guards are top notch. They give you a good feeling every time you arrive. When your kids arrive they give them a high five. They really make you feel like they care and they’re keeping everyone safe. Further, the teachers are personable, and relatable, and you can tell that they all really care about enforcing a positive school environment, and they really care about providing the best education possible.Parent Review7y ago5 Reviews - Niantic Center School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI gave this school a 4 and not a 5 because it has wonderful teachers and the PTA is very involved but the principal is horrible. She needs more experience in dealing with kids. The Principal before was wonderful and a caring one too. This current one is just doing her job and that's it and I don't think someone who is just doing there job and not putting their heart into it should be around children.Parent Review10y ago4 Reviews - LEARN Haynes Elementary Intensive Program
