This designer studio is primely located 1 block from the famous U st, and only steps away from many beloved shops, bars, and restaurants on 14th St as well. Central to all DC has to offer, it is great for either business or leisure!

This is a studio apartment that can comfortably sleep up to 3 people on the Murphy single bed (wall pull-out bed) and Full-size pullout sofa bed. There is also a fully-equipped kitchen for any homemade meals that you might like to enjoy during your stay. The kitchen includes microwave, oven, dishwasher, coffee maker, toaster, stove-top kettle and full-size refrigerator.

The Neighborhood:
U Street has historically brought Washingtonians together to the sound of its homegrown music, from jazz and blues to rock and go-go. Today its renovated clubs, new restaurants and shops are once again the center of DC's humming nightlife. U Street is home for those who want to march to their own beat.

Known as Washington's cultural center at the turn of the century, U Street has long been a backbone of the city's homegrown jazz, arts, and civil rights movements. Once bearing the scars of riots and protests, today it has regained its rightful place as the street to showcase DC's vibrant cultural life, from music and food to activism and art.

An important African-American cultural and nightlife hub from the 1920s through the '40s, U Street is home to the 1922 Lincoln Theatre, where local jazz greats like Duke Ellington once performed. Rooftop bars and trendy DJ lounges add to the late-night buzz, and vibrant murals color the streets. Dining options include decades-old Ben's Chili Bowl, quirky cafes and Little Ethiopia's cluster of eateries.

Getting Around:
10-12 minutes walk to to either of two Metro subway rail stations, U St/Cardozo (GRN/YL lines) or Dupont (RED line) stops

Closest Metro bus stop is at 16th & U streets NW, and will take you to city-wide destinations including the nearest Metro station.

Other Things to Note:
The "fireplace" is an electric fireplace with colored light options and generates electric heat. There is also a separate heating option in the unit as well. Together they warm the place quite well even on the coldest of winter nights.

LAUNDRY MACHINES: Coin/card-operated washers and dryers are available directly across the hall from the apartment.

TRASH: You will want to prop the door, but you can take your trash to the back of the building, and there is a door just around the corner and up from the apartment that lets you out back directly in the trash & recycling bin area.

House rules are taken very seriously, and a violation of any one of them will result in an extra penalty fee of upwards of $500. I have a bus stop literally in front of my house. 11th St has a lot of great restaurants and bars, and U St and Shaw are just a quick walk down hill. Neighbors both old and new are friendly, if not on a first name basis. "
