The kitchen has a nice stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator/freezer. The cottage has 4 skylights--two of them open. The wall heater is efficient, and there are heat mats in front of the kitchen counter and in the bathroom.
The access to the cottage is through the garden from the driveway. The gate at the top of the driveway has a locked keypad. There is typically plenty of parking availability.
The property is four blocks from the Ashby BART station and six blocks from Berkeley Bowl. Prefer to rent to grad students, visiting professionals, people established in their careers, or to people in life transitions.
The cottage is big enough for one person, but not for two. $2500 includes wifi, water/sewer and trash. The cottage has its own PGE meter so that will be extra. The deposit is $2500.
The big back yard has a great deck and hot tub, and lots of private spaces for communing with nature. I'm a landscape architect and have spent the past 25 years making the garden an oasis, and get a lot of enjoyment from it. We have lots of outdoor seating and a couple of chaise lounges. We also have a veggie bed to share and there's lots of places to have potted plants. There is a full basement for storing bicycles and other small belongings. We have one long-haired cat who will interact with you as much as you want (she's really bonded to me, but is super friendly). No more pets, please!

Lease is for 6 months but may be extended if both parties agree to it. Longer durations of up to a couple of years are preferable. Owner pays all utilities except PG&E. This includes water, sewer, internet, and garbage.
Street parking is generally easy but we're very close to Malcolm X Elementary, so things can be spicy twice a day as parents drop off/pick up their kids.
It's a special place, and is quiet, serene and beautiful.
