Descripción de la habitación

En inglés
Hi - We're looking for a third person to join us in a spacious duplex in Berkeley beginning August 1.
- House
The house is on a quiet residential street in south Berkeley. The house is a railway-style two-story duplex. There is a gate at the front that leads to the front door.
On the first floor are the common areas kitchen, dining area, living room, and one half bath. There's also a garage that can be used for storage. The kitchen has nice blue tile countertops and a skylight. The first floor gets a lot of natural light, there are lots of floor to ceiling windows at the entrance. We have a dishwasher and a washer/dryer. Downstairs is all tiled floor, except for the living room which is wood laminate. We have a nice backyard, and some plants. We have one driveway parking space, and we both have a car, but street parking is easy.
Upstairs are the three bedrooms. Upstairs is low-pile carpet. There's a full bathroom which will be shared by one other tenant.
It's a 15 minute walk to Ashby BART and Berkeley Bowl, and about a 35 minute walk to campus. Coffee shops and bus stops are nearby.
- The Room
The room is 10' x 9', additionally with a closet and a window that faces north. This fits a Full size bed, bookshelf, a decent size desk, and a chair. Attached is a picture of the room looking into the hallway, and another when it was furnished by a previous tenant. The room will be unfurnished. Descriptively, the room itself is small, but the rest of the space in the house is large and has good features and it's in a good location and the house is basically always quiet.
In the hallway nearby is a full bath with a bathtub and shower, in addition to the 1/2 bath downstairs. There's a hallway closet too for more storage.
- Us
I'm 36, male, and work in tech. I like technology stuff, arts & culture stuff, and enjoying nature. I am the longtime tenant in the house and have been here since 2014. The other tenant, 33, male, is a horticulturalist at a local esteemed botanical garden. Between us, we have two cats.
We are both omnivores, liberal, and LGBT friendly. We do our own thing, but have good chats and some evening hangs.
- You
We're looking for someone who is around our age, working professionally or a grad student. You should be reasonably clean, considerate, and able to pay rent on time. We want someone who will be a good roommate, but we'd also like someone who we get along with. Not a big deal but the idea of chatting, sharing occasional meals, and generally getting along together should appeal to you.
Please tell us a little bit about yourself, what you're doing, and what you expect out of a living situation.
- Rent
The monthly rent for the room is $1,600. The annual lease begins on August 1. Security deposit is $1,100 due on move-in.
Utilities are split equally. We usually buy common non-perishable house stuff from Costco and the like and split that. I keep track of that stuff including rent with a communal Google sheet that I share with everyone. The average utility cost, all in including communal non-perishables, for the past six months has been about $250/person/month, but it fluctuates month to month.
- Availability
The room is available beginning on August 1, or possibly sooner depending on outgoing tenant schedule as they are in the process of moving out. Let us know what your situation is and we can work around it. Thanks! :)
