"Never had any block parties or anything like that but that might just be a thing of the past. Every one of our neighbors gives that friendly wave whenever we see them. Each family/ residence keeps an eye out for each other and is cognizant of unusual or criminal activity. It all depends on each individual family around you on whether you’ll run into any issues. That is just on them as people. For the most part on our block, the noise and loud music is to a minimum. Everyone keeps their own cars in front of their own homes. Most of the homes and yards are well maintained. "
  • Ashley H
"Quiet South of sunrise hwy. Schools are rated low. Halloween is huge. Great night life in the summer."
  • Fahad Dar
"Nice area. Close to nice waterfronts. Summers can get louder due to lively events at Nautical mile if you live on south side "
  • Fahd Dar
"South Freeport is a nice area for living. The houses are nice and generally neighbors maintain there properties. It can get really loud on weekend summer nights due to proximity with Nautical Mile "
  • Gary Dejesus
"Lived here my whole life. Can’t really complain except it’s very expensive. Nautical mile is awesome in the summer "
  • Rundell Ramsay
"Events for all season. Quiet, diverse, shopping locations, schooling, great area for raising a family. "

  • LaQuis Des Jardins
"The recreational center, nautical mile, 15 mins from Jones Beach by car. 40mins to manhattan via LIRR, 25mins to JFK via car. "
  • Kennethorourke
"Freeport is slowly becoming queens with illegal vehicles. such as unregistered/uninsured quads and dirt bikes, The “mile” has become a haven to tourists that completely disrespect residents and property. Academically the schools are great, but the students not so much. There’s a lot of great PRO things about freeport, but there’s also a LOT of CON’s"
  • Tikal95
"The school district has several k-4 options, dual language programs and the town recreation center has a 4/5 year old half day program for potty trained children. Lots of activities and great school sports and clubs. "
  • Fahd Dar
"10 mins to LIRR train station, which is not bad for a regular commuter. I haven’t taken buses that often but they are also good "
  • Tikal95
"Like that there are side walks to walk on. Street lights work. Dog park in town at cow meadow park. "
  • Andrew
"You see people walking their dogs, interacting with each other and laughing all the time. So if you’re a dog owner I’m sure this type of interaction with neighbors would be a reason for you to want to purchase here. "
  • Tony D.
"pro: walkable neighborhood cons: not many dog friendly parks; I live close to cow meadow, but I cannot walk my dog there! "
  • Sober227
"Lived here for ten years. Friendly quiet neighborhood. When we moved in Lots of neighbors came over to introduce themselves and welcome us to the neighborhood. "
  • Shepherd71880
"They would like that it’s a dog loving area. Dislike would be that there’s no dog parks. I highly recommend it."
  • Maya
"The school district is very transparent. Many opportunities to be involved in the decision making process of how the school year, budget and staff hiring does. Parents know that you are providing your children a town that is diverse in ethnicity, age, culture. Provides for a rich well rounded experience "
  • Daylynn W.
"Overall it’s a nice area to walk your dogs in. Most owners pick up after their dogs. I think dog owners would like a nearby dog park. "
  • Veronica F.
"Dog owners are always walking their dogs. There’s never an issue with dog owners not curbing their dogs. The owners are always very welcoming and let those know if their dogs are tougher around the edges. "
  • Maya
"School district is wonderful. Many opportunities for parents to be involved in plans & decisions. Several K-4 school building options. Many School administrators are alumni, residents, and take pride in the district. We are diverse and welcoming. "
