What Locals Say about Lynnhurst

  • Taylorgretchen
"National night out, Halloween, neighborhood events like East Harriet fall gathering this weekend, events on Lyndale, music on blocks in the neighborhood, porch concerts, events on Lake Harriet in the winter (kite flying, Art Shanty, others)"
  • Anna D.
"We live between minnehaha creek and lake Harriet and there's always lots of people having fun outside in the summer. "
  • Erica M. M.
"Wonderful area to live and raise children! We absolutely love it here and so do our kids. We feel very safe."
  • Erica M. M.
"I don’t have a commute so can’t comment on it. Love our neighborhood though! It is a wonderful place to live."
  • Anna D.
"I've lived here for about a year and it's a great mix of neighborhood and walkable to shops and restaurants. Feels very safe and all the kids play outside. "

"Lots of great commuter options. There is a Nice Ride station at the Lynhurst community center. North South bus lines are plentiful. Downtown is usually about a 25 minute ride on the 146 express. Driving downtown is a 15 minute ride without traffic. Biking downtown is also great. You can take Bryant up all the way, or scoot a bit over a few blocks East (via the creek or 42nd or the Greenway) and then shoot up on Park. If you hammer it out and hit the lights right it could take 25 minutes depending on where you're going downtown. Coming home, Portland is the way to go (either all the way or scoot along the Greenway halfway down and then hop on Bryant going South the rest of the way). East West commuting is also a breeze. Minnehaha Creek is a wonderful way to commute anywhere East of Lynhurst. You could also go along 42nd. Or use Bryant or Park and use the midtown Greenway to go east west."

"nextdoor and fantastic neighborhood, if you want to enjoy city, creek, lakes and all the greats, move now"
  • DSH
"This is a vibrant neighborhood, very walkable, with local stores and restaurants nearby. The lake and the creek give plenty of opportunity for walks. "
  • Dcassidy80
"Close to shops and conveniences like grocery, library, liquor store, drugstore, vet, coffee shop, etc. and still just a few short steps from the creek."
  • Dcassidy80
"Invest lives in Lynhurst since 1989 and LOVE it. Great walkability. Minnehaha Creek is 1/2 a block away. "
  • "This area is a thriving, stable and safe section of Minneapolis with families of all kinds, some singles and retired people. There are many dog lovers and lots of foot traffic traveling to the quaint commercial areas to shop or eat or to the lakes. The schools is the area are strong and constantly improving. There is a lot of activity year round along the parkways that border the lakes and Minnehaha Creek with seemingly endless walking/biking trails that extend throughout the region. There are many organization-sponsored events including runs, walks, biking, swimming, skating, and probably the largest event of all, the Twin Cities Marathon in the fall. Free nightly concerts at the Lake Harriet bandshell draw regular crowds with a multitude of styles of music starting in the spring and ending around Labor Day."
  • "Beautiful and quiet neighborhood. Houses mainly from 1920s and 30s, though some new fill-in construction. Walk to nearby Minnehaha Creek parkway and Lake Harriet. Great schools."
  • Terri K.
"One of the benefits is access to one of the best high schools in the state- Southwest High. Additionally, it has one of the newest libraries in the city. Recent road repairs include the new bridge built over the Minnehaha Creek on Lyndale Avenue- scheduled to open within the month. "
