Read what parents are saying about Forsyth Country Day SchoolThis school year, the struggle has been intense. Poor management has led to so many problems for us- from availability of textbooks, tuition payment systems, lack of communication, problems with class schedules and availability and overall responsiveness to concerns. I already have concerns about the level at which my child is learning, and lack of classroom structure. I do not want to switch my child’s school but am left wondering what exactly our tuition pays for?
Posted by a parent on 8/26/2023We have had four different students attend FCDS. Yes, it hurt financially but I could not think of a better way to spend our hard earned money. This place is amazing. A well run machine where you take your child and they are TRANSFORMED!! Well worth anything that is asked of you. Your child benefits in every aspect of education- science, literature, arts, character, sports, health, etc, etcWe tried public school- Jefferson, Meadowlark, Reagan, etc and every time, the decision was the same.... have to go back to Forsyth Country Day. It can't be beat.

Posted by a parent on 8/20/2021Our child has been so happy since coming to FCDS. The staff is amazing, caring, and keeps you informed about your child's progress. The JAC staff, which tutors children with LD, are highly trained in teaching students with dyslexia, and other learning differences. These tutors/teachers are NOT LEARNING ON THE JOB, they have many years of experience working with children with LD, which is why they are so successful in educating LD students. The best part is the students are in school with all of their peers. There is not a sperate school for LD vs Non-LD. Everyone is expected to work at the same level, and if the student needs extra help in a subject, the staff is there to assist them. By operating as one school, as oppose to two sperate schools under one roof, (one for LD and one for Non-LD,) your child receives a much higher quality of education. The material is the same across the board, there is not a non-academically challenging side, verses a very academically challenging side. This model is more in line with the real world, as it prepares your child for the expectations of a challenging high school and/or college. Our child has been in both types of schools, given that they have a higher IQ, and loves a challenge, FCDS was a much better fit. If a job transfer occurs, we will not have to worry about making a lateral move to another academically challenging school. There is not a more solid, academically challenging, and caring school than FCDS. I highly recommend this school for everyone.
Posted by a parent on 2/8/2021We had two kids at this school and the school was certainly not up to private school standards .Poorly staffed and managed ...Bulking is huge problem with kids from wealthy families ...actually the bulking was out of control .

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI loved this school when I went here. The teachers were terrific, cared if you came in, and were sad. They had great teaching methods that made me happy to learn. The principal was terrific too and helped the teachers by bringing them food and drinks. The Announcements would tell the birthdays and it made you feel really special.Other Review11mo ago - Vienna Elementary

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTesting before smiles is my experience here. They have my kids on computers constantly test test testing. Everything is so militarized, and you can really feel the tension while everyone is so on edge and tired looking always. School should be a warm place but a folks are intense here.Parent Review1y ago - Meadowlark Elementary

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was a parent for 11 years. We experienced diversity with the student population and exceptional teachers during all of our years. My children had opportunities in leadership roles and extracurricular. Running clubs, News Team, Safety Patrol, Battle of the Books, Flag Team, Odyssey of the Mind, etc. all provided opportunities for enrichment beyond required learning. This school provided my children with a great foundation for readiness in their secondary schools.Parent Review4mo ago - Winston-Salem Montessori School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur son began school here shortly after we moved to Winston-Salem. He has spent fifth and sixth grades in the Upper Elementary classroom. His teachers have consistently created an environment in which our son has thrived, growing academically and socially, and taking responsibility as he grows. His joy is clearly evident, and we just can't say enough good things about this school. Anything, including a Montessori school, is only as good as those who are running it. In our experience, this Montessori school is run extremely well.Parent Review7y ago - Montessori Childrens Center Inc.
