Read what parents are saying about St Vincent Ferrer SchoolWe recently transitioned our child to public school and are very happy about our decision. We have found since the move that the academics are more rigorous. Our child has special needs and although we realize that private schools are limited in what they can accommodate, we have found since our child’s transition that the accommodations previously in place were not being carried out with fidelity.Since we have moved our child to public school we have also come to realize that the concerns presented to us as parents were most likely not an accurate representation of what was occurring in the classroom. Our priority as parents is to ensure we are making the most informed decisions on how to best help our child succeed. We found that the school was not communicative or transparent as it pertains to student behavior and academics.Had we realized the amount of additional support our child needed early on, we would have made the decision to switch sooner. We will always look back fondly on the many faith based events and weekly school Mass.In time we hope that St. Vincent and the Diocese can work together to better accommodate students accepted with disabilities to make a more inclusive environment.
Posted by a parent on 3/30/2024My kids have attended St. Vincent’s for the past 3 years. We had previously been at another school that we weren’t happy with. Our family is extremely happy with SVF. The curriculum that St. Vincent’s offers is beyond exceptional. Our children are being challenged & they are exceeding all test scores. This school reinforces our kids to think for themselves. The school offers excellent Catholic/Christian experience. For the most part the students respect one another & are kind to each other. The teachers and staff are caring and friendly as well. They care about each & every one of their students. Their goal is to have each child succeed & it shows with their dedication. The principal is strong and focused. We have seen & heard from other parents on how she handles difficult situations fairly. She doesn’t tolerate any bullying and handles it very seriously. There is so much for students to do for extracurricular activities. There are sports (there are so many banners of championships to count), Drama, Music & different clubs. This school instills the importance of civic duty and community service. This school has a great community feel.Above all, our kids are happy here. There are not enough great things to say about this school.I wish I could give them a 10 out of 10.
Posted by a parent on 4/4/2022Does not provide a Catholic education. Bullying is rapid and the administration does not address the issue. Students are treated differently based on social-economic status. Stay away. If I could give 0 stars I would have. we will not be returning to this school.
Posted by a parent on 5/13/2021Our children attend the elementary school at SVF, and we could not be happier. The school has an outstanding team of teachers as well as support and administrative professionals going above and beyond to make the school experience flawless. Most of the members of the school team have been working at the school for years. As a mother, I am very happy to know every one at school to be able to address anything that I may need with respect to my kids’ academics, health, or administrative matters. I also really appreciate the constant dialog with the homeroom teachers which allows me to know exactly how my children are doing. I enjoy very fair amount of homework my children are assigned daily (compared to public school). The website/application used at the school for posting grades is very helpful and is updated daily as records become available. Such efficient system allows students and parents to know the status of grades and classwork/testing/homework performance.I would like to commend the music and drama department at the school which most children truly enjoy. The director of the music department, Eric Keiper, has a wonderful personality and truly loves what he does.We are looking forward to participating the school sports as soon as our kids are eligible. The sports program is great and accommodates various interests. Most importantly, our children are happy, safe and thriving. I have not heard once from them that they do not want to go to school.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThere are many reasons I've seen that show this school doesn't care about the students safety and when you voice your concerns nothing is done about it, teachers are either stupid or don't care about anything other than getting paid, one of my kids kept getting back another student's school work back so who knows if my child even received accurate grades. They let the same parents pick up their children from school early EVERYDAY when we all told during an assembly that doing that is considered an absence and can get you kicked out of the school yet I've been seeing the same parents pick up their kids early daily since last year.Parent Review7mo ago - S. 5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children were at Spady for 8 years (PK3-5th grade). What I love most about this school is its culture and overall school philosophy. It is very unique for a public school. Montessori schools educate the total child and promote independence. The teachers all truly cared about my childrens's education and individual progress. I have often recommended parents to apply to Spady and will continue to do so.Parent Review1y ago - Village Academy On The Art & Sara Jo Kobacker Campus

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt was good, however the classes are very small. This is a good thing while you are young, however I do advise a bigger middle school. 4th grade was my last year there and when I switched to a school that was bigger I almost was in shock. It was terrified and I wasn’t used to it at all. I moved to a very good school that helped me have an easy transition, but I think I would have freaked out if I came in for middle school and didn’t have 5th grade to get used to a bigger learning environment.Other Review4y ago - Trinity Lutheran School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGulf Stream school is a warm and loving environment for our oldest child. She is in her first year there and truly begs to go to school every morning. She surprises us daily with how much and how quickly she is learning. Every single teacher knows her name and looks out for her wellbeing.Parent Review1y ago - Mount Olive Christian School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageUnity School is a warm and welcoming environment for all the children. Unity encourages students to embrace others and their differences. That alone allows students to learn at their own pace and explore unconventional ways of learning. I appreciate the expertise of Unity's faculty and teachers and respect their ability to guide students to achieve the best attitude and camaraderie that carries into life outside of school.Other Review1mo ago
