"Lots of college students in the area. It’s typically safe, but sometimes a little rowdy. Most people are respectful and it’s a more diverse part of the city. "

"Shadyside is immaculately kept up. The public areas are clean and safe at night. I'm a small woman and feel safe walking alone at night. There are a lot of families here, and even though we are surrounded by colleges, the neighborhood has much more if a "family" feel than a "college" one. I love Shadyside!"

"If I could afford to live in Shadyside, I wouldn't choose any other neighborhood in the city. It's just the best in all ways: several huge parks nearby, minutes from universities, enough parking (though it's tough sometimes), tons of shopping, restaurants, and most of all the people who live there really care about it. This is Pgh's "chic" area. Very cool and urban but not uptight. If you're going to live in Pittsburgh, live in the east end - and from there, if you can afford it, live in Shadyside."
