4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAn absolute embarrassment to education. Teachers regularly take a "day off" to catch up on things while the students sit there and do absolutely nothing while the teacher sits at their desk. Administration is unresponsive and does not address parent concerns. Grades are inflated to keep parents "happy" meanwhile state test scores show a different story.Explain how "advanced" students get A's and B's for 3 years and score in the 35 percentile of the state tests. Let me clue you in, no one is doing their jobs and the kids are paying the price. Sad sad state of affairs.I know the teaching field has been wrecked by the pandemic and I am very sympathetic to their plight. I have many teachers in my extended family, I know the struggle. Despite this, something drastic needs to change. Staff, funding, admin, all of the above.Parent Review4mo ago - Page Jackson Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDo yourself a favor and send your kid to Jefferson. The way staff treat students, ESPECIALLY those with special needs, makes me violently sick. The principal, the administration staff, counselors and even the nurse are nothing more than mere bullies, who will lie straight to parents faces to cover and protect themselves. Setting aside my own personal problems with this school, I have heard time and time again from previous students and their parents about their treatment by staff members. They would rather look a problematic child in the eyes and tell them they should drop out because there's no hope for them, rather than actually help them when they are struggling. Their IEP program is a huge joke, and offers little to none extra assistance for children that need it, and oftentimes will leave children so far behind that it's near impossible for them to catch up to. They pick favorites, and pick on the rest. I have seen nothing but trauma and pain from this school, especially from children with mental health problems or disabilities. Any child I have ever seen that has had a problem whether academically or internally within the school, excelled as soon as they transferred to Jefferson. Jefferson is a far superior school in every way possible.Other Review1y ago - Check out schools near 220 W Washington St #8.

"This is a very dog friendly neighborhood. People walk the dogs all the time. However, sometimes they don’t pick up after their dogs in common areas or seldom there is a pile in my yard."

"Large lots and low traffic on the roads. Large, dog friendly park five minutes away. Mountain trails and C&O canal provide other safe pretty places to take a walk. "

"Heatherwright04 Makes it sound like conservative neighborhood is a bad thing, it’s not this is a wonderful area and the people in this neighborhood are friendly and nobody cares a hoot about your political views. That’s called a great neighborhood with diversity…"

"Becoming more of a DC commuting area but still has a good rural feel to the people and area. If you want strict zoning and harsh HOAs stay in the city. Your neighbors here mind there own business and want you to mind yours. However they are kind, will help out in a second and are open minded. "

"I have lived in this neighborhood for 21 years, and it is unique in that for the state of WV it is an upscale neighborhood. In fact the whole Eastern Panhandle is upscale compared to the rest of the state. "

"There is a farmers market downtown every weekend as well as local fresh produce.Parks and recreation offers a wide variety of activities for community members young and mature. There are youth sports leagues for soccer, football, baseball etc. There are often festivals in downtown Charles town on the weekend. There is a great small library. This is A historic area with battlefields and historic landmarks. Lots of things to see and do"

"Everyone pretty much stays to themselves, very quiet even though it’s tons of kids. Not much to do in the area, schools are just okay. Main thing going for the area is cost of living is affordable. "

"I've lived in this neighborhood for three years and love every aspect about it. It's isolated, yet is accessible to everything that Charles Town has to offer. The location of the neighborhood provides various routes to Northern VA, Winchester VA, Frederick, MD. Only 15 minutes to I-81 in Martinsburg WV and 30 minutes from Frederick, MD. Ample hiking and nature trails and activities. Great area!!"
