Built in 1910, this gorgeous brick single family home is situated on one of the largest and most picturesque lots in the Highlands. The massive 2016 renovation catered to today’s living, yet maintained all the historic details and appeal. The spacious kitchen opens to the family room and boasts white, Goebel cabinets with inset doors, black granite tops, a large island with Carrera marble, glass backsplash, farmhouse sink, and top of the line appliance package including an 8-burner commercial Wolf range, side by side 42” Sub Zero, & Sharp microwave drawer. Grass cloth on the ceiling in the dining room creates a cozy, intimate atmosphere perfect for entertaining. Both the living room and dining room have doors accessing the enclosed side porch with brick floors. The first floor also offers an additional den/study space, huge modern laundry room with lots of built-ins, updated powder room, and a convenient mud room accessed through the side door of the home. This level also offers two additional bedrooms, one with an en-suite bath, access to a deck overlooking the rear yard, and can be accessed from a back staircase. "I lived in the Highlands for 28 years and loved every minute of it. Growing up, I walked to school, church, playground, grocery store, after school job, friends’ houses, and restaurants. As a young adult living with my parents, I walked to work, bars, and enjoyed taking public transportation to school. Neighbors I grew up hanging out with from the Highlands were guests at my sister’s wedding. "

"My neighborhood has access to public transportation during rush hours it is a little busy on my street but there is never bad traffic. There is also a lot of businesses in walking distance. "

  • Julien M. U.
"Neighbors are nice but don’t invade your space. Great parks especially for dogs at Rockford park and other nearby river walks. Unfortunately I pick up a lot of broken glass along the way and my dogs have cut their paws on trails along the river where the old train track used to run. People come and have their graduation pictures taken in the Gibraltar estate and unfortunately some leave their trash in our bushes and sidewalks. Take your trash with you! "

"Lived here for a year. Met neighbors on several occasions and events but still we’re all pretty much private living in detached houses. Quite, safe neighborhood with parks nearby. "

  • Alta P.
"Love this street. Have friends that live here and this has such neighborhood vibe-people get to know and help each other. Friend was sick and neighbor mowed and watered her lawn without even asking. Beautiful yards - tons of flowers. "
