"Cars go fast which can be bad for dogs running around. Sometimes you hear dogs barking but the back yards are usually fenced in and there are dog walkers so I would consider it very dog friendly. "

"Elkhart has it's good and bad areas like any City. However, Elkhart is not as safe as it once was 20 + years ago. Crime is not extraordinaryly high but it is up there as is the use of drugs. My advice to parents; communication is very important to have with your kids, but not just one-way. Communication needs to be open and honest, it also needs to be allowed both ways. If your child(ren) feel as if they may be looked down upon for being open with you, that door you want kept open will be shut faster than anything you ever imagined. That and patience. Other than that, to raise your kids here in Elkhart Indiana is alright. It's not always the case, but the amount of money you have does typically play a big part on how well you do in Elkhart."
