"I see people walking their dogs all the time. Prater Canyon Trailhead is near my home. Strict about dogs being on leashes and current on shots."

"Amenities are great in the summer! School busses don’t come up here in winter. Wish I would have known to ask this sooner. It’s only a mile to the bus stop for easy driving tho."

"Great place. I’ve lived here for a couple years now. Great place to raise a family. Not a lot of people here in the winter. Most houses are empty. Although my neighbors come back in the summer and they’re beautiful people"

"I live on Star Valley Ranch and attend the local high school. I have been impressed on many levels with the surrounding area. Star Valley Ranch itself is very beautiful with many views, though many of the houses there are empty most of the year. The restaurants and stores are in other nearby towns. It's only a short drive to Thayne or Afton, the two biggest towns in the valley. The local high school has been awarded the Blue Ribbon Award, a very prestigious award not given to many high schools. The entire community rallies around the high school when the sports teams do well. I have driven down the road, trying to avoid a huge parade done by the high school. The signs around town continued congratulating the teams for weeks afterward. Star Valley Ranch is a very safe community. Most who live there don't worry about crime. The ranch is pet-friendly to most animals, except for cows and horses, ironically enough. The ranch does make it more difficult to keep animals outside, with their strict rules on yards and fences. They want residents keep their property clean and keep property value up. Traffic is low and parking is plentiful. The roads and paths are clean. There are many creeks going into the mountains that provide wonderful views and hiking trails. There are some designated parks, including Fox Run Park on Hardman Rd. on the ranch. Of course, with this being a small town, there are not as many shopping opportunities as one would find in a city. For shopping, many residents in the area head north to Jackson Hole or west to Idaho Falls. Nightlife is virtually nonexistent in most of the valley. I have been told that there is some nighttime fun to be had in Alpine, the northernmost town in the valley. Overall, this is a great place to live, though people who like their shopping and nighttime parties might not enjoy this nature-filled little valley in the middle of nowhere."
