I am extremely disappointed in Engleburg Elementary (MPS) for not allowing my cousin to participate in his graduation ceremony.This wasn’t just a missed event—this was a once-in-a-lifetime moment taken away. A core memory, something every child looks forward to after years of effort, was denied. And for what?Boys of color are already the most misrepresented, misled, and misunderstood in Milwaukee. In a district that claims to be inclusive and student-centered, this decision felt like punishment—not guidance, not support.What makes it even more disheartening is that while other MPS schools celebrate their students with full ceremonies and cap-and-gown traditions, Engleburg doesn’t even provide those. Our kids already get less—and now they’re being told they don’t deserve to be seen at all.This isn’t about policy—it’s about respect. About making sure our children feel valued at a time when the world already tries to dim their light.

While I attended this school I told the teacher about an incident that happened at recess after some kids dragged me off a bench that caused scaring on my lower back and she did nothing.

Horrible. I'm in the 8th grade and graduating in 4 months. This school has no control over the students. Even the second graders are horrible. All the kid run out of class, cuss all the time, and there are always fights. Most teachers don't even teach. How do they expect to pass the Wisconsin Forward when they aren't even teaching what is on the test? Not to mention that most of the eight grade is on a 2nd - 6th grade reading and math level. Very horrible school. I do not recommend anyone to enroll their child in this school. Thank goodness this is my first and last year.

Great! Lots of opportunities for outside experiences (arts, educational ventures and real life exposure such as volunteering and helping other schools) and academic growth.

The teachers teach with high expectations. Great principal!

I am a former student here! went here ever since 2016, graduated in 2023! (i think?) I adore the monday positive pledge, it makes the child feel special, and has better self esteem, but what I think that could be done better is recess. Back when I was there, fights almost happened every friday because there was hardly any adults around. But, for the most part.. I had a lot of fun there! If you asked one of the old teachers that still worked there if they knew a "Crystal", they would answer. I adored that school, had great memories there.
