Read what parents are saying about MannGreat, the school focus on academics is wonderful and structure helps the whole school stay on task! A bit of a grey area when it comes to discipline but I think they are doing their best considering the 75% of the entire school being LOW INCOME families..... they have a before and after school program that is used to watch those kids who dont have a safe place to go after school tooThe parent and teacher communication could be a bit better. Maybe have a once a month night meeting for ALL STAFF to come to and talk about issues together and hopefully the communication can help the way they displine and teach all our children as a whole... at HOME and at SCHOOL It takes a village and the villagers need to communicate
Posted by a parent on 6/19/2019This school has really gone down hill and this year with this so called new principle has made it really a Hot Mess!!! He is only fooling himself and the Tacoma District if he thinks he is doing a good job at this school. I have seen children being bullied at this school and nothing done and the children who are being bullied felt like they were Wrong!! I watch some of these employees treat the parents and children with lack of respect and I seen some of your employees being treated the same way. Mann at one time was a Great School now all I see is a school that allows bullying , disrespect and mistreatment and a principle that has no control over the school. I heard he was suppose to be better for Mann well my opinion is he is done nothing for this school and really needs to be replaced before no one wants their children to go there. Tacoma District should hang their heads in shame for allowing this to happen to a once Great School.
Posted by a community member on 3/15/2017The teachers at Mann do a great job, but the rules and the way they enforce them I believe is unnecessary .They dont allow the kids to play tag they cant run on the jungle gym they cant run on the concrete if they get thirsty during recess they cant get a drink of water the playground duties seen to take their job way to serious they treat the kids like they are in prison It seems like they care more about saving face then letting the kids enjoy their time at school in the mornings when the kids meet in the gym the kids are not allowed to talk and if they do they have to sit in the stage until school starts this School takes the rules to far. I have spoke to several parents and they all say the same thing about the School they run it like a prison I love the teachers but That is all we will be changing schools next year I feel bad for keeping my kids there now I know why it has a rating of 2 I think ite the worst rated school in the district

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThey literally have students assaulting and spitting on each other and repeatedly refuse to document it or notify parents. I understand that the public school system as a whole is broken but the admins here genuinely do not care for the safety and wellbeing of the children in their care.Other Review1y ago - Boze

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe special education program is horrible never seen such a high turnover rate in staffing and absolutely no Consistency on the day to day task. Went through 2 different teachers and 5 different teacher aids within 1 year, that says it all! Complete Garbage!Parent Review1y ago - Edison

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child is on an IEP. I'm used to advocating for his needs and being disappointed with his educational experience. However, this past year at Fawcett was really my son's best year. He was excited about school and liked all of his teachers. I felt he was getting his needs met and was pleasantly surprised by the special education staff. The only complaint I have, is there was some bullying and unresolved issues with name calling and berating. Also COVID cut our year short but the teachers did a solid job with online instruction.Parent Review3y ago - Lyon

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter just started here for 4th grade and she has Mr. Maxwell. So far I am pleased. He is very informative and emails regularly giving updates of what exactly is going on with your children. I love that he applies the "It takes a village" quote because that's truly important in our house (education). I can't wait to see what the rest of the year has to offer us.Parent Review1y ago - Reed
