Sand Point Elementary School

Top notch school. My kindergarden is thriving in this school after attending preschool and pre-k in a independent private school in seattle. The difference in the quality of education is brutal. 10/10 view ridge!

Our daughter has been at U-Coop for Pre-K and we've been super impressed with the program and community. We enrolled our daughter to get her more social exposure as well to transition her to a classroom environment.The teachers are qualified and purposeful, yet friendly and laid back. They started introducing the incoming class to the environment during the application process (yes, it started there - purposeful!) as well as at the start of the year. While Pre-K is "student led", it's clear from the daily communication that the teachers proactively use student-chosen topics as a foothold to engage various "hard" topics like science, reading, and math. The teachers were also super empathetic and helpful when we had some behavioral things happen during the year.The community has also been great. Compared to our past schools, U Coop stands out in how parents willingly engage with each other and welcome new families. As it's a coop, there are plenty of opportunities to engage with the entire school. There are also plenty of regular events (like all school sing on Fridays), special events (like mud fest), as well as parent organized events (like parent meet ups), and an active WhatsApp group for each class for parents to support each other. It's not one size fits all, but there's definitely a lot of options to engage depending on your style and what you can manage. I can also be working full time and not be able to go to all the events and know I'm not being judged.We are super happy here and would highly recommend the school!.

This is a school that should be better known in Seattle. I can only imagine that it’s less known than others because it produces the kinds of successful, confident kids who don’t need to brag or flaunt their credentials. The campus, buildings and resources are rivaled only by Lakeside’s upper school campus. The light and airy main building, soaring ceilings and stunning views imbue students’ school experience with a feeling of being part of something much bigger than themselves. The relatively new Head of School has energized the entire community and activated a new sense of purpose and drive in students, families, and especially the faculty. Everything at this school is being done with intention and an eye on truly serving the school’s new mission. The Head of School has a talent for recruiting and developing skilled teachers. Diversity of the student body has increased significantly and for us families who have been at the school for a long time, it's a relief to see that the student body is at last reflects the diversity of Seattle. As a parent of multiracial students, I am happy that our background is not unique among the school community. Occasionally families will leave so their kids can attend other middle schools connected with high schools, and inevitably they will share in private conversations that they wished they had stayed at Villa. The rigor of the education students receive combined with excellent support for social-emotional learning, service learning, and executive functioning skills is unmatched among area elementary and middle schools.

Our family has enjoyed our time so far at Assumption St Bridget school (5 years so far). We have two children currently enrolled and a third that will attend in one year. We love all aspects of the school and have been very happy here. The teachers are wonderful, the culture is warm and supportive, and the community has been great.
