Read what parents are saying about Chief Sealth High SchoolUnfortunately my experience has been really bad. Chief Sealth could be so good. They have amazing programs, a beautiful campus and a community rich in diversity. The principal does nothing to bring out the best of people. Most of her staff is just waiting for her to "retire or leave so she can take care of her family" I refuse to be part of a community that is only waiting for its leader to go away. No IB program, dual immersion pathway, mariachi band, academy of finance is enough for my family to stay. We are leaving but my heart breaks for families that do not have any other choice for their kids to prepare for college or any other opportunities in life.
Posted by a parent on 3/20/2018My children attend Sealth and overall we are happy. The teachers and staff are great with my kids, unfortunately the Principal is the worst Principal in the district and needs to move on or retire. She does not respect the teachers, staff or students. 5 stars for teachers and staff, 1 star for Principal.
Posted by a parent on 6/6/2017Since the new principal at Sealth started just this year, everything has been going downhill. Not only are students looked down upon but the teachers are as well. The administration now has no respect for their students and don't take the opinions of the students and staff into consideration whatsoever. Although the administration is sub par, the teachers are wonderful and extremely great at what they do. With that said, I still believe the authority of the administration outweigh the good of the teachers. I find it sad to see Chief Sealth's great teachers under the horrid rein of the new administration who seem to only care about what they think is right. I haven't once seen the principal interact with any of her students, other than telling girls their outfits are inappropriate or boys to pull their pants up. I look forward to if/when this principal begins to understand her duty as a principal is one who doesn't just scold kids for the bad, but to encourage them for the good. I'm so sorry if you ever have to go to this school in the future -- it will not be a pleasant experience.
Posted by a student on 6/4/2014This school has the worst principal in the district. She is new to the school this year. Has a top down only management style and has no respect for some great long term teachers and support staff. She talks to no one. Staff moral is at an all time low. Teachers and support staff are leaving and going elsewhere. I have observed this school over the past 20 years. This is it's worst time ever.
Posted by a community member on 5/28/2014This probably one of the worst high schools in Seattle. There's has been many bullying cases. Students do not feel safe. It is a crime to be smart, to want to thrive. Students will get beaten for being a 'nerd'. The teachers, frankly, have given up on all students because the students don't care anymore. This school gives students a reason for depression and I won't even say what depression leads up to. Do not send your child to this school. It may have been good in the past but as of 2011 and beyond, stay clear.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAll my kids came through Highland Park, and we have a few more years to go. We have seen several principals, and the current administration (2023/2024) is just phenomenal, supportive of staff and families. The school feels like a community, the teachers are all amazingly engaged and care about their students. There is a strong social and emotional learning element. The PTA is engaged and hold several fun events throughout the year for student enrichment. I agree that the low test scores are due to the high percentage of second language learners at the school, my kids all did very well there academically. This school deserves a higher score on Great Schools, but since that’s not how it works I hope that any parents in the neighborhood that are curious come and see for themselves what it feels like to be in the building. No score can tell you that.Parent Review2mo ago - Roxhill Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThree plus years ago, we were researching schools for our daughter to start Kindergarten. We went to an OPEN HOUSE, heard a great talk by Principal Temme, met some teachers and parents, and decided to have Annika start with Holy Family. 3 years later, we cannot think of any other school for her to be at until the 8th grade. Great faculty, active parents and local community, and an updated renovation of the school itself are just some of the reasons to give this a 5 star rating it deserves. The school takes ownership of every one of the students, and provides a safe and nurturing environment for all. The bilingual aspect is a piece of this as well, and Annika enjoys reading, writing and speaking in Spanish . N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI went to this school for one year. It's a fear based curriculum that is wildly intolerant of the LGBT+ community, we had a whole school assembly about Katy Perry's song, 'I kissed a girl and I liked it.' Fear based lectures for bible study, abstinence only health education. Biology was a joke as they use faith based textbooks that literally say, "Because God created it that way." Instead of explaining the science behind biology. One 8th grader didn't even know how read a clock. Half of PE was just walking around the parking lot. Guardians have to sign a waiver allowing corporal punishment. There is no Special Ed and the teachers repeatedly lose patience and yell at kids who aren't neurotypical. This school is a joke.Other Review1y ago - Gatewood Private School
