Read what parents are saying about Our Lady of Guadalupe SchoolI attended OLG from K-8 and I can honestly say that I could not have been more prepared for life. I am at a university now studying to become a teacher and I still find myself looking back at my OLG education as the best decision my parents made. In high school myself along with all of my classmates from OLG found ourselves above average in almost all subjects. I was taking math classes with people 1-2 years older than myself. I feel that even in college I would not have been nearly as prepared if I had not attended OLG. Thank you for preparing me for life and giving me the most amazing family of my classmates who I am still in contact with. This school is amazing and students from OLG are more prepared and do better later on in education!
Posted by a community member on 2/15/2018This school has 'it', that special thing that you can't quite put your finger on but you know it's there. It is a small, welcoming, relatively diverse community with some of the hardest working teachers you will ever find. They are committed to building relationships and student accountability. While imperfect, this school never rests on it's heels, but continuously, arduously tries to adjust and move forward in every area from technology integration (almost 1 device per student ratio now), newly updated library, rigorous curriculum review, environmental stewardship, building maintenance, data collection and analysis, after-school programs, etc. While service projects are a norm for Catholic schools, the class projects here are fully integrated into the school year and curriculum, and go well-beyond 'flash in the pan' drives for the poor. The eighth grade graduation project culminates in students choosing a year-long area of study and service close to their hearts. You may not find all the academic student support services of a larger school, but the full-time counselor is top rate. And the 'it'... the kids here are just good kids. They are stretched, challenged, supported, and held to the highest standards of manners. They are proud, poised, active contributors to their community. You will feel it when you walk in the doors.
Posted by a community member on 1/30/2017School has a new principal. Tuition rates are up for 2014. Costs are now $300 more than surrounding schools like Holy Family, St. Bernadette and St. Francis. What value do you get for $300 more? I'm not sure. It's a Pre-K - 8th grade school not college. Other cost to compare: registration fee $225, lunch $90 for 20 lunches. Teacher educational background is comparable to other school--just younger. Kindergarten & 1st grade teacher needs updated curriculum. They have probably been using the same curriculum for the last 15 years and they are uncomfortable with technology. Outdated library. After school and summer programs are just starting to develop. They are shorter compare to other programs elsewhere and more expensive (see WSU summer reading program and local sports camps). New gym. Some sports do not have enough interest so we must go elsewhere. Returning families must do 50 volunteer hours or cost is $25/hr. Overall, a slightly average school that cost more. Parent of two students.
Posted by a parent on 4/27/2014I am currently an 8th grader at OLG. OLG has prepared me thouroughly for high school. I love all of the teachers and my peers. They make me feel very at home and loved. The principal is the best you will ever find. I've grown spiritually and acidemically in my 9 years here.

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWest Seattle Elementary cares about each child and their family. It is a school full of teachers and staff who dedicate themselves to creating a learning environment where every child feels loved and knows their potential. My children have attended here for the last 4 years and they have always wanted to go to school and see their teachers and classmates because they feel safe and the school has helped them love learning.Parent Review3y ago - Highland Park Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAll my kids came through Highland Park, and we have a few more years to go. We have seen several principals, and the current administration (2023/2024) is just phenomenal, supportive of staff and families. The school feels like a community, the teachers are all amazingly engaged and care about their students. There is a strong social and emotional learning element. The PTA is engaged and hold several fun events throughout the year for student enrichment. I agree that the low test scores are due to the high percentage of second language learners at the school, my kids all did very well there academically. This school deserves a higher score on Great Schools, but since that’s not how it works I hope that any parents in the neighborhood that are curious come and see for themselves what it feels like to be in the building. No score can tell you that.Parent Review2mo ago - Roxhill Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThree plus years ago, we were researching schools for our daughter to start Kindergarten. We went to an OPEN HOUSE, heard a great talk by Principal Temme, met some teachers and parents, and decided to have Annika start with Holy Family. 3 years later, we cannot think of any other school for her to be at until the 8th grade. Great faculty, active parents and local community, and an updated renovation of the school itself are just some of the reasons to give this a 5 star rating it deserves. The school takes ownership of every one of the students, and provides a safe and nurturing environment for all. The bilingual aspect is a piece of this as well, and Annika enjoys reading, writing and speaking in Spanish . Double thumbs up from the Obrien family, and GO FALCONSParent Review10mo ago - Hope Lutheran School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI do not recommend this school at all. The teachers are always right and the students' opinion is never valid. Even if you voice your opinion, the school will not allow you to continue there. The teachers and principle continue to make favourites, they allow them to call down to the office any time that they like, pull them out of class for no real reason, and let them do things with younger grades. If you are a child of colour then you are automatically considered a problem child. This school is focused on faith(Which is not a bad thing), but they do not consider that not everything has to revolve around it and don't consider that the lives of the children matter more. The teachers don't own up to their own actions, they say the opposite thing that they originally said before, then making it the child's fault. The school wastes money, they have so many fundraisers but spends it on painting a lion in the gym. The teachers are forced to work really late; they stay way after hours to finish their lesson plans.Parent Review1y ago - Gatewood Private School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI think people frequently over exaggerate how bad this school is. i mean, of couse they do. people rarelt like their own schools, because people rarely like learning. ive been at this chool 9/10 of the years its been in operation. ive never been to another school, so im not sure houw accurate this will be. i dont think this school is great but i would not say this school is horrible. some of the eachers are less than ideal, but still do a pretty good job of teaching. the principal and vice principal is where a significant problem arises. they do not know how to deal with conflict, or how to treat all studens equally. the students are mostly fine. i cant give a review on them because your treatment by students really varries on who you are, what grade youre in, and what year youre going to this school.Student Review2y ago
