Neely O Brien Elementary School

I was a student teacher in Neely O'Brian Elementary during the 21-22 school year. In my time at this school I saw incredible leadership and communication between staff. The new principle and assistant principle are amazing. They foster a true sense of connection that lends to the feeling that I was in a very supportive family. I've been working in elementary schools for several years and can say that a school's positive atmosphere has to start from the top, which it definitely does at this school.

I spent 2 years at Neely O'Brien Elementary, and I did NOT like it. First, the kids there are violent, rude, they swear and it's utterly ridiculous. They get away with it and I once saw a kid in my class hold up the middle finger to my teacher when she turned her back in front of the whole class. The kids there have no respect or manners. Some kids there were really lovely and work really hard, and the teachers are brilliant. I do NOT recommend this school. You're child will learn bad things from other classmates.

My nephew barely has had a consistent teacher this year and I feel the academic level should be well above where they are currently. I think the kids run the school here.

The school would be better if they had higher expectations and a discipline system that worked.Failure to providing a richer curriculum in STEM has had consequences. While students who have academic gaps receive assistance, the ones who are at or above grade level are not being challenged to their full capacity. The favoritism in choosing only certain students to participate in after school programs like robotics is Incredible. As a father of a 5th Grader I wish you could pay and see the potential in more students.Promote Science, Encourage the Love for Math, develop critical thinking in them instead of "just meeting expectations". Let them be kids yet... Make teaching Exciting.Kids must be Excited or at least looking forward to learning not bored.I am hoping this year be a Fantastic Year with the new Administrators.
