Providence Elementary School

My youngest three children will go anywhere but here. This school was horrible in the 90s, and it was an absolutely abhorrent school for my son. I got beat up for being white in this area on the 90s, he got beat up for being white in the 2010s, then got suspended for pointing out that he got jumped by a bunch of "not white" kids. If you get a chance to send your kids here, pass on that. James River is right down Robious. Don't move to North Chesterfield if you're white or have money, stick to Midlothian or Moseley. This area has gone down the gutters.

We have been a Gordon family for many years and have had multiple children attend Gordon. We love the small community feel and love that the teachers truly care about the students and their families. We love Gordon!

We love Evergreen and everything they stand for! We will have 3 kids there in the fall. The neighborhood is lovely, the teachers and staff are phenomenal, and the families are involved! I love the emphasis on our multi-cultural community. They are being taught love, acceptance, and "ally-ship" which is above and beyond the regular curriculum. I've only had experience in general and gifted education and we have been very pleased so far.

BEWARE!!!! Child safety is not the #1 priority at this school. I called the school hours prior to dismissal to inform the front office that my child would be parent pick up only for my child to end up on the bus. Contacted the principal Samantha Wade after reaching out to the front office again only for them to avoid accountability, deny the fact that no one was told (besides my efforts), apologize and excuse the fact that Jodi Poh “forgot” to tell my child’s teacher in an attempt to smooth things over as if children’s safety is not a priority and they can just forget to inform the teacher of transportation changes.

My son is in pre-k and he knows numbers 1-40 and can identify them, can write his whole alphabet on a blank paper and know all the sounds the letters make, can write his first, middle, and last name, and knows a few “sight words” they are well beyond public school kids when they reach kindergarten.

We spent nearly a year going through the application process. The administration was horrible at communicating with us and I had to frequently reach out past expected timelines to schedule the next step. During the child interview, the owner was distant, barely answered our questions and largely ignored us. It took nearly two months for anyone to get back to us about enrollment, and this was after we had reached out multiple times requesting updates and information.
