Read what parents are saying about Aldrin Elementary SchoolMy son attended Aldrin for seven years (grades K to 6). There are great teachers at Aldrin, especially those that have been there for a while: Ms. Bullen, Mr. Woodring, Mr. O'Day, Ms. Smith, and Ms. Hansen. My son learned a lot with each of them! I'd say kids get a high-quality education at Aldrin. However, some of the best teachers retired already (e.g., Ms. Ward, Ms. Jaeschke, or Ms. Crittenden) or are about to retire. I gave only 4 stars because I think the school needs improvement in terms of equity. If you want your kids to be placed with good teachers, you need to work hard for it if you are not White or have an accent. For example, not many students of certain minoritized racial groups end up in the AAP program. I know, because my son was the only one of a certain racial background attending the AAP program full-time. If you are a parent of color or immigrant or both at Aldrin, be ready to be a strong advocate for your child!

Posted by a parent on 5/13/2022As a former teacher and reading specialist I would highly recommend this school. My two grandchildren are students here and I hear from my daughter about the excellence of this school. The teachers are dedicated and go above and beyond. My grandchildren love this school and take great pride in being a part of the student body here! Thank you to the administration and all the teachers and staff for making this school such a wonderful place for learning!
Posted by a parent on 11/13/2021A fantastic school with a lot of positive outreach to ESL students. They go above and beyond to bridge the gap between lower income students and the broader student body.

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur three children attended Herndon Elementary more than 30 years ago, and my husband and I, now grandparents, volunteer at the school once a week. The demographics may have changed, but this school is still a wonderful place for students to learn and grow. The teachers are dedicated, the administration encourages everyone to do their best, and there are wonderful resource teachers for any child who needs a little extra help. Statistics do not always tell the whole story. These amazing and talented students are on the way to bright futures!Other Review1y ago - Lake Anne Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have 2 children that have attended the past 6 years and are in the Spanish immersion program. They love going to school everyday. The teachers communicate well with us weekly. They have walk-and-roll monthly, a community garden, after school programs, safety patrols, reading buddies, movies outside on a big screen, book fairs, band and chorus. The principle truely cares about the kids. Great community feel. My kids are learning a lot!Parent Review4w ago - Forestville Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageForestville ES is a wonderful, caring school. The front office staff are always willing to assist with your requests. Being military we move around a lot and after enrolling in over 13 schools and daycares across my career this was the first school I experienced truly dedicated, caring staff. They helped me find the forms and emailed what I needed. They walked me through everything. While my children were attending the entire staff was so dedicated in every aspect of school from the nurse to the lunch staff. Teachers were engaged and available for assisting my children in whatever aspect they needed. They address and resolve issues quickly and effectively. The new principal seems very caring and engaged; hopefully he continues to support this wonderful school and maintain the family, caring, environment. I recommend this school.Parent Review2y ago - Armstrong Elementary School

The teachers are fantastic, the principal is great and the PTA is very engaged. We can not rate this school highly enough.Parent Review1y ago - Children's House Montessori School Of Reston

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe are a returning family to CHMS. Our first child attended from age 3 to age 6, completing the three-year Montessori cycle. We could not have been happier with her experience. Now, at 10 years old, she often mentions how she wishes she could have stayed at CHMS forever! She made wonderful lifelong friendships and memories. We had maintained a relationship with the school since and now our second child is blessed to attend Kindergarten at CHMS. The teachers have gone above and beyond to ensure a safe in-person school environment this year and it's nothing short of remarkable that they have not had to close for even a day due to the pandemic. We are so impressed with the measures they've taken, and the quality of the education has remained top notch. Our child is receiving the best Montessori curriculum in a safe and nurturing environment. The wooded outdoor space cannot be beat: the landscape architect-designed space is the perfect natural place for children to enjoy nature. The school prioritizes outside time with extra-long recess, nature hikes, and gardening where the children learn about creating habitats for animals and caring for Mother Nature. There is playground equipment as well. We knew CHMS was one of the best preschools with the best Kindergarten program in the area, where each individual child's needs are met, but this year we have seen the resilience and perseverance of this little but mighty school. CHMS is a very special place!Parent Review3y ago - Temple Baptist School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter only attended MSH for a year, but we noticed a vast difference between how she was at the beginning of the year and at the end. She was so shy and scared on her first day, but by the time the holidays came around she started getting upset because she wanted to stay at school longer! By the time summer came, she was so confident and independent, it was like she was a new kid altogether. MSH gave her so much love and special care and helped her come out of her shell, and we ware eternally grateful that they've gotten my daughter ready for the rest of her life.Parent Review7mo ago
