Read what parents are saying about Montessori School Of HerndonMy daughter only attended MSH for a year, but we noticed a vast difference between how she was at the beginning of the year and at the end. She was so shy and scared on her first day, but by the time the holidays came around she started getting upset because she wanted to stay at school longer! By the time summer came, she was so confident and independent, it was like she was a new kid altogether. MSH gave her so much love and special care and helped her come out of her shell, and we ware eternally grateful that they've gotten my daughter ready for the rest of her life.
Posted by a parent on 9/14/2023My kid attended the school. 1st grade teacher was not young & not enthusiastic. Looked a low energy person. They don't offer anything awesome for the fees bring paid.
Posted by a parent on 9/12/2023Did not find this school better than public schools, cost a lot of money, teachers are not that much experienced. Management too pushy for academic results! And alot of attitudes! While public schools have alot of resources and teachers are qualified and skilled, and you pay nothing.
Posted by a parent on 6/16/2022Didn’t find the teachers to be very professional. Saw administration once during the first tour, never saw them again. Didn’t get any reports on daily activities or progress, apart from occasional pictures. They couldn’t even spell or pronounce my kid’s name correctly after several months, and it’s not an unusual or difficult name.
Posted by a parent on 2/14/2019We have had a wonderful experience at MSH. Our toddlers have learned so much through play and the teachers are extraordinarily kind and nurturing. I have felt a very genuine commitment to my children's development at MSH. Thanks to all the teachers for their good work.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI would not recommend this school. Horrible all around… has some great teachers and staff but not worth it. Too many issues with bullying not just form kids from staff as well .Parent Review11mo ago - Sully Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI never understood why this school had such low scores. We lived just behind this school, and our son went there for kindergarten until we moved out of the country the following year. The staff was amazing. Our son was at the age he was nervous to go in most mornings, and a counselor volunteered to walk him from the door to his room daily. She said once he was in class, he was fine. This was during covid, so we couldn't walk him ourselves. Our son learned a lot that year, but we also practiced with him at home a lot too. There were a few days the parents were allowed to come in and sit with the class for an hour and he always seemed happy and seemed to get along well with the students and teachers. Our son had some behavior issues (he was hitting) and the counselors met with us and helped us work through a plan, and it worked. Also, in an effort to keep pace with other STEM curriculum, every kid in school gets a laptop - even the kindergarteners. In short, this school is awesome. I recall shopping for our house in this district and being worried about the low scores, knowing our son would go here. But it ended up being a great experience. Our son's friends still attend, we still keep in touch with them, and they are still happy there. I think it's important to work with your child at home too to make sure their reading/etc stays on track, but that would go for any school. I think our sons success was due in part to the school and the home studying.Parent Review4mo ago - Herndon Elementary School

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOur three children attended Herndon Elementary more than 30 years ago, and my husband and I, now grandparents, volunteer at the school once a week. The demographics may have changed, but this school is still a wonderful place for students to learn and grow. The teachers are dedicated, the administration encourages everyone to do their best, and there are wonderful resource teachers for any child who needs a little extra help. Statistics do not always tell the whole story. These amazing and talented students are on the way to bright futures!Other Review1y ago - Lake Anne Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have 2 children that have attended the past 6 years and are in the Spanish immersion program. They love going to school everyday. The teachers communicate well with us weekly. They have walk-and-roll monthly, a community garden, after school programs, safety patrols, reading buddies, movies outside on a big screen, book fairs, band and chorus. The principle truely cares about the kids. Great community feel. My kids are learning a lot!Parent Review1mo ago - Aldrin Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son attended Aldrin for seven years (grades K to 6). There are great teachers at Aldrin, especially those that have been there for a while: Ms. Bullen, Mr. Woodring, Mr. O'Day, Ms. Smith, and Ms. Hansen. My son learned a lot with each of them! I'd say kids get a high-quality education at Aldrin. However, some of the best teachers retired already (e.g., Ms. Ward, Ms. Jaeschke, or Ms. Crittenden) or are about to retire. I gave only 4 stars because I think the school needs improvement in terms of equity. If you want your kids to be placed with good teachers, you need to work hard for it if you are not White or have an accent. For example, not many students of certain minoritized racial groups end up in the AAP program. I know, because my son was the only one of a certain racial background attending the AAP program full-time. If you are a parent of color or immigrant or both at Aldrin, be ready to be a strong advocate for your child!Parent Review1y ago - Clearview Elementary School
