My daughter has attended this school for two years now and she has grown and learned so much since attending. It’s clear that the teachers and director put a lot of time and love into educating their students.

We love the class sizes and the ability for all teachers/staff to get to know the names of the children no matter what class they're in. She has learned so much already and you can see the confidence she is building each day.

You're never going to find that "perfect " school because every school has flaws . I've never had a problem with my kids going here. There is help at the school for all types of Problems you may have. You just have to speak up and ask for help. Respect goes a long way. All staff from the principal on down are unprofessional and do not care. The school is old, dirty and rundown. For it to be an elementary school they show no excitement, there's no decorum and no motivation. The teachers are uneducated. My kindergartner has a teacher assistant for a teacher. My 5th grader was bullied on and harassed by his teacher. My child was let out of the school by himself with no parent or adult present. She has no interest in learning the students or engaging the community l. If anything, she has pushed the community out of the school. He lack of respect for the staff is seen by not just staff but the parents as well. The morale has sunk since she stepped in this year and less parents and children are showing up to events due to her and the lack of care she shows. We would do anything for Mr. Swann to return or even make Mr. Graham the actual principal. We removed our daughter from Portsmouth public due to issues and it was a blessing to find OVCA. The staff is amazing. And my daughter loves the school, students, and staff. I am glad that my daughter is in a safe environment where she can learn and thrive. Not only does she get a great education, but the foundation of God and the importance of caring for others.
