Sycamore Park Elementary School

Many students are below reading level. One of my kids complains about how they have to do indoor recess when personally all kids should have all of their recesses outside, as long as weather permits. They're cooped up all day. I'm disappointed in the lack of field trips one of my kids gets. 1 of the comments says, title 1, more funds, but I don't see where the funds are going. Kids will come home to tell me they've been harassed, touched, or hit by a student and the teacher always failed to inform me. Unless your kid knows who did it, teachers won't want to provide information. Lack of diversity when it comes to educators. Mainly white females. We need more male educators or educators of different ethnicities or backgrounds. A lot are usually new and from PA. It's like pulling for teeth trying to find out what all your kid is learning about. Always vague answers. Whatever happened to syllabi in school?

Sycamore has given my kids the best experience, all three are now middle schoolers and in honors classes.

Its been great my son just finished kindergarten and his teacher Ms Hoffman was great.

The great schools ranking is a total joke. This is by far the best of the elementary schools in the culpeper area. Rating a school is so difficult, and great schools is notorius for doing poor ratings. I will tell you, as a parent with kids that went to multiple elementary schools in culpeper, that Sycamore is the best. We arent a 10 out of 10, but to rank Sycamore below a 5 just shows great schools inability to properly evaluate all criteria in ranking schools.

My child only attended this school for a few years (graduating in 2014) and I didn't have much interaction with the administration. However, my daughter really enjoyed her teachers, as did I. She seemed to learn a lot as she appears to be well prepared for middle school (so far)! Her favorite teacher was her 5th grade teacher since she was a younger teacher which made it easier for my daughter to feel comfortable communicating and interacting with her as opposed to the older teachers she had previously. Overall, I don't have any complaints although I know some people had issues with the administration. My daughter stayed out of trouble for the most part so I didn't have many interactions with them outside of a friendly hello.
