Posted by a parent on 4/10/2023Sent 3 children there. Amazing teachers and academics. School offers Chinese K-6. One of the best schools in FCPS. Strong PTA.
Posted by a parent on 8/19/2022Our family loves Clermont! Our children have had great success with wonderful teachers and administrators.
Posted by a parent on 5/19/2018The current principal has been there for four years and is great. She is professional, approachable, and effective in my experience. She is quick to address parent concerns and helps to resolve issues.
Posted by a parent on 4/23/2017I went to this school all through my elementary years , and am now a junior in high school, and I can say with full honesty that this school was overall a bad experience for me. Although now I have a love for learning, this schools lack of care for students made me dread going to school each day. I was a child that suffered greatly due to the lack of experience for a student's mental health. Also their bullying "protection" is upsetting, which I believe was a major contribution to my awful self esteem, even now. I have obviously recovered, and maybe the school has changed their approaches, but in my experience, I would not recommend this school to anyone

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWorking at Patrick Henry was an awful experience. The principal is a bully. Students are not engaged because the principal demands that all lessons be a specific way. The principal does not follow up on her promises. She has her minions and they keep an eye on people for her. It’s very big brother. Do not send your kids here and don’t teach here. @ACPS do something about this.Teacher Review10mo ago - Samuel W. 5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDo NOT send your child(ren) to this school. I heard of all of the amazing things Samuel W. Tucker used to be (with previous admin,) but that has long gone. Admin is way in over their heads in terms of what is going on at this school. Communication is lacking- they do not practice what they preach. They want to paint a pretty picture to parents and outsiders to hide what a mess this place is. It seems as if parents have a lot of control of what goes on here, or at least administration will give to anything a parent requests. The office staff is friendly, but it is always a mess in there. Things are misplaced, it's always "I thought he/she had it...",- no accountability. Teachers are nice and they at least seem to have each other. You can definitely tell this is not a happy place to work. Behaviors at this school are growing by the year and there is no handle on them. Counselors, support staff, and the special education department is stretched thin trying to make it through each day. Children are physically aggressive with staff members and other students and it takes a big incident for something to be done. Overall, do not send your child here and if you are looking to teach, search else ware.Other Review6mo ago - Bush Hill Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBurgundy is a remarkable school offering a comprehensive progressive education, supported by caring, engaged, and talented teachers and administrative staff. My son is thriving at BCDS - academically, socially, physically, and emotionally. We are very pleased with our decision to send him there and see significant returns on our investment across all hard and soft childhood development indicators. Burgundy offers much more than an excellent box-checked education; it enriches the childhood and learning experiences of its students. Pedagogy is purposefully tailored to take advantage of the school's natural endowment (25 acres of school campus, excluding the recent addition of the neighboring Burgundy stables purchased in 2022, and over 600 acres at 'the Cove', BCDS's remote learning campus in West Virginia), opportunities for peer learning and collaboration, and learning through play. No education experience is perfect, but I have been impressed by the school's responsiveness when we have raised concerns or leveled complaints to the administration. The school has demonstrated a positive problem-solving attitude, working with my family to proactively address concerns and remedy missteps. My son has some atypical challenges. Burgundy has been extremely accommodating of his needs and facilitates his full participation in the school's robust physical life. My son loves going to school and routinely complains that he doesn't want to leave when we arrive at pickup. The voluminous sand that emanates from his shoes and random bandaids that appear on his body is a testament to outdoor childhood experiences increasingly rare in large metro areas. I look forward to continuing our educational journey with the BCDS community, particularly the offline (no screens) learning facilitated at the Cove - a thread of Burgundy experience and enrichment that deepens with age.Parent Review4mo ago
