Read what parents are saying about Cottonwood High SchoolMy oldest 2 kids have attended cottonwood for 3 and 4 years now and I have loved everything- academics, extracurriculars, clubs, AP courses, teachers, coaches, administration, volunteers, the food pantry is a great rescource. There is tutoring and counseling, and such great support.
Posted by a parent on 3/23/2024We love Cottonwood! It is an amazing school full of academic and extracurricular activities. The teachers have been so supportive, engaging and kind to my kids. Students from all walks of life thrive in this school and there are so many opportunities to shine. The kids who want AP classes, academy of finance, and concurrent enrollment courses have SO many options. The kids who want sports and clubs get to participate and shine. And the culture in the school is truly one of acceptance and kindness. If you are looking at the low grade Cottonwood has received on this site, do NOT be scared away. Talk to someone who has a child currently attending Cottonwood. I promise you they will tell you how awesome of a school it is!
Posted by a parent on 3/21/2024Greatschools.org has not done its research on this school. Due to the great academic climate her,mMy daughter recently graduated from Cottonwood HS with a 4.0 GPA, was accepted to every college she applied for with 31 ACT score, and after several years at college has a 3.95 university GPA.What a huge difference between the reality and the Greatschools rating! Don't trust Greatschools.org.
Posted by a parent on 5/14/2023Cottonwood High is an excellent public high school!! All 5 of my children have been highly successful at Cottonwood. They have some of the top teachers in not only the district but the state as well. There are programs including robotics, theatre, debate, music, sports and many clubs where everyone gets a chance to participate. The Academy of Finance is one of the most amazing programs Cottonwood has to offer. Graduates of the program head to college with 21 credits earned in addition to any AP or other concurrent enrollment classes. My children have been accepted into top universities with scholarships and a year of college credits already taken care of. Their classes are rigorous and teachers are engaging. The counselors are very helpful especially when it comes time to apply for college and scholarships. There are many opportunities to get involved with PTA and parents are welcome at the school. There is a significant population of refugees and other underserved students which provide a wonderful and diverse student body. The stories these kids tell of overcoming adversity are incredible! Cottonwood has a food pantry that provides food, school supplies and hygiene kits to any student who needs it. The pantry is a welcoming place for all kids and the volunteers there are warm and loving. They are about to break ground on a teen center where students who need it can access showers, washers, dryers, extra clothing and support from dedicated mental health providers. There is literally something for every student at Cottonwood! I wouldn't have my children attend any other school! Don't let the ridiculous standardized test "scores" scare you away from this great school.

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe principal, Rebecca Spence is overall a horrible person and should not be in education. My daughter has had some bullying problems and when trying to talk to Rebecca she told my daughter she doesn't care about her problems and "isn't paid enough" to listen to my daughter. When I confronted her about this after my daughter came to me she seemed annoyed and two-faced. Please don't send your kids here, they won't be given the change they deserve especially when the principal doesn't care about the kids.Parent Review2y ago - Woodstock School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI was told a hundred different things by a hundred different people at this school. Even if you are catholic the chances are slim you’ll be given the time of day. I understand the last few years have been difficult for this school and the director changing multiple times but frankly it’s disorganized and dishonest given the inability to be kind enough to respond to people just with applications I can’t imagine it being a good school to attend its not crowded there is no excuse. I spoke several people who told me my child was enrolled or as good as enrolled in this school encouraged us to apply multiple times only to be a week away from school starting and still have no formal acceptance or rejection letter no consideration no response or zero care to just simply respond just hundreds of dollars down the drain not to mention me donating money directly to the school and to my friends fundraisers who attend there just to be ignored. Don’t bother applying or even considering it better off at another catholic school the nearby charter school or Waterford where my daughter will be attending.Parent Review1y ago - Anchor Christian Academy
