Read what parents are saying about Woods Elementary SchoolWe have loved our time at Andy Woods! The staff is very kind and welcoming, always remembering parents and siblings when we come in. Our daughter’s teachers have been so wonderful!! Only good things to say about this school
Posted by a parent on 10/6/2023We could not love Woods more! The staff goes above and beyond and it is so comforting to know our child is in the best hands. We are so very thankful we get to attend Woods and for the top notch education our children receive.

Posted by a parent on 3/9/2023I have never experienced a school with as much love, compassion, and grace as Andy Woods. Andy Woods is so much more than just a school it is a close-knit community / family. The principal and teachers truly care for each student and parent. I've never felt more welcomed at a school- from the students and teachers opening the doors each morning with a "good morning have a great day", to the principal and or assistant principals standing at the entrance offering words of encouragement as you enter in the building, to being able to walk your child to his classroom each day and say hello to your child's teacher. These little details that Andy Woods pays attention to sets them apart from EVERY other school in TISD. Andy Woods is truly phenomenal. I believe this school is set apart from all others in large part due to the heart of their fearless leader Ms. Jones. She genuinely has a heart of gold. I love how Andy Woods does not want anyone to feel left out. For example, this year during the book fair the school created a fund parents could send money to provide books for children that had not received one on the last day of the book fair. It's so heartwarming to see this school care not only about our children's academic future but also instill values of dignity, integrity, and compassion. In addition to having an amazing principal Andy Woods has exceptional teachers. Mrs. Rachel Diaz works tirelessly to ensure each kindergarten student has every opportunity /resource available to succeed. I love her passion for teaching it truly shines though in each of the children as they are excited to go to school to learn. What a wonderful foundation for learning she has set! Mrs. Diaz, Ms. Jones, and the entire staff at Andy Woods Elementary are truly God sent miracle workers. I am so thankful for each and every one of the members of this incredible team.
Posted by a parent on 3/6/2023Woods Elementary has far surpassed any and all expectations I had for my child's education. I have personally worked at several elementary campuses and this is where I feel my child will have the best experience. Staff morale is high which trickles down to student success and happiness. My child reads above grade level, and I was originally worried that she would get bored. However, over the past two years, her teachers, and the campus as a whole, have been able to differentiate instruction for my child so that she remains engaged and excited to learn. She looks forward to going to school every day and is always excited to talk about what she has learned and the activities she participated in throughout the day. There are also many activities throughout the year for student enrichment in other areas. PE, music, and art are definite highlights in my child's day and I'm so glad that she is getting a well-rounded education that includes not only academics, but also physical health, fine arts, and social-emotional skills. Besides the education, we have also been very pleased with the parent engagement. Parents are invited to take part in the PTA as well as activities throughout the year like field day, Parents in PE, class parties, and the Spring Carnival. Teachers have been very communicative and keep parents informed. I always feel welcome on campus and love that I get to be part of my child's education.

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe problem with this school stems directly from the Founders and the Administration. They have no experience regarding what it takes to run a legal, professional, and compliant Educational Organization. Teachers are hired and fired on a whim, depending what enrollment is, and they never seem to know or care what enrollment projections are. Staff readily admit that the working environment and culture is toxic. Contracted labor and vendors are paid slowly and poorly, if at all, indicating financial instability. Now the TEA is looking into them. Nepotism runs rampant, and they seemingly don't care or realize that you can't employ every one of your family members just to get them on the payroll--qualified or not. Growing quickly without the ability to manage what you have is a common problem, but refusing to LEARN and hire qualified professionals to help maintain compliance and smooth operations either means they don't care or are too proud to admit they are in hot water. This school won't be around in the next 10 years.Parent Review6mo ago - Bell Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFrom my perspective this school could do better. Without going into detail my experience has been a nightmare and I plan on having them taken out of this school soon as I'm able to. There are reason's why I'm having to finish out this new school year here but I most defiantly plan on leaving. I already have plans lined up. This school has disappointed me time and time again and has failed my child time and time again. Send your kids here at your own risk. I will say not all the teachers are bad but the majority don't seem to care about the students progress and when you turn to counselors, principles and such they seem to be in the woods about everything. Also there has been zero action taken on the bullying situation the bullying at this school with students bullying one another is some next level stuff just crazy. Also this school didn't have a crossing guard till AFTER I threw a fit about it so your welcome.Other Review9mo ago - Birdwell Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageBirdwell is a nice school. It is very rigid though and gives way too much homework. Kids starting in 2nd grade have 1.5-2 hours of homework. They are proud of their test results, as they should be, but kids that young should not be forced to do that much homework.Parent Review3mo ago - Clarkston Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter was struggling as an incoming Kindergartener last year, without any formal pre-K she started a little behind her classmates. Our amazing Principal and her wonderful teacher Ms. Bruno-Busby got her on track with additional resources to help her succeed! Currently she is thriving in 1st grade & receives one-on-one assistance as well as additional resources outside of the classroom with their reading specialist Mr. Line. I’m blown away by the resources they have in place on this campus to help my girl succeed. Clarkston was the best choice we ever made!Parent Review2mo ago - Rice Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have 4 kids and have been at Rice for 5 years with 4 more years to go with our youngest! We have had the most amazing teachers each year that have communicated well and worked with our kids to make sure they were understanding what was being taught! The other students are also great! We have been able to make lots of friends at Rice and I’ve been able to meet other parents as well through different school events and activities! We love Rice!Parent Review1y ago - Grace Community School - Elementary Campus

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school has gone down tremendously in the last year. The school lost its visionary leader and now has nothing special but "best academics" which it doesn't have. Wish the school had been able to keep its leadership in place and continued on the path that was doing so much for students. It is now just like every other school in town for way more money.Parent Review11mo ago
