Read what parents are saying about Salyers Elementary SchoolThis school needs to be reassessed! My kids went here for 2 years passing with flying colors. I moved so now we are in a different district which I thank God for every day. My daughter was in the 3rd grade reading on a second grade level a beginners second grade level. You know its bad when the teacher at Salyers calls to tell you to get your child out the school. I spoke w my daughter and she said the teacher never teaches. My then second grader can help my then 3rd grader with homework once we moved schools. That itself speaks volume. Elementary is the kid’s foundation to life and this school doesnt prepare them for anything. My kids beg to go back to Salyers because in my daughters words, “i didnt do anything but be good and go to the treasure box because i was the only kid being quiet”

Posted by a parent on 8/13/2018My child has been going to Salyers for 3 years and there are definitely some pros and cons as with any school. The no homework policy has been great for us with busy schedules, but I'm sure not everyone is happy about that. I'm not thrilled about the new GT policy, but that was a district decision. There is excellent leadership under Mrs. Grounds, and the teachers, parents, and students really respect her authority. This is a very diverse school, but what a great way to introduce your child to all types of people!
Posted by a parent on 8/23/2013When I first read up on the school , I thought I made a great choice now I'm not to sure, I mean if they don't give homework , so I as a parent reach out to my childs teacher through email, and ask about progress, let me know what you are doing and I can print down worksheeets etc. to my surprise my daughter is failing this class , but making A&B 's in the other teacher class, I feel like it you are not gonna send home our childern grades, homework a progress report or report card is not gonna do because before it reaches failing grades we should be made aware.

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Average2 of my children went here from 2017-2020. The teachers are great and really teach and pay attention to the students. The teacher who stood out the most was Ms Petite. She made sure my daughter had the resources and support she needed even when she needed a little extra help. The principal, Mr Armelin, is amazing and cares about the students and staff.Parent Review2y ago - Pearl M Hirsch Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have 3 kids at this school, all 3 of the kids are in GT program, and the teachers are amazing. They have the dual language program that all 3 of my kids are in, that is an advantage for their lives.Parent Review1y ago - Spring Baptist Academy

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy 1st daughter got sexually assaulted at this school by another student and nothing was gone about it at all. The child was kept in the school. No CPS report was filed…My daughter got isolated from her friends during recess. The child who touched my daughter got to keep going to recess and regular classes. They claimed to be waiting on “Title 9” to investigate. After months we were basically told that nothing could be done. The principal seems to care more about looking cool than taking care of children because she would never be present at these meetings that involved my child’s safety. We were not told about it until the end of the day even though it happened middle of the day. We were told that we didn’t need to come to the school to investigate. Worst public school in Houston.Y’all are extremely lucky NO attorney wants to go against y’all for this…Other Review2mo ago
