Lieck Elementary School

So far, the teachers and staff seem to be really engaged. They have a lot of fun events, but seem to be a little short staffed. I wish more folks wanted to be teachers. In any case, our daughter loves her class and her teacher. Communication is great.

I personally love Ott elementary and have not heard anything bad about this school. We have lived here for 4 years and all 2 of our children have attended Ott Elementary. My daughter has an IEP which they helped her tremendously! My son is going into second grade and he loves school here. Teachers are hard working and care about their students. Also with all the dangers of school shootings Ott is one of the few schools that have installed bullet proof glass lobby and you cannot enter without them buzzing you in. Plus they really try to get parents involved in activities which is great for your kids!

I am extremely disappointed with the principal’s approach to communication. She avoids engaging with parents, offers no transparency about teachers or class progress, and leaves us completely in the dark. Instead of addressing concerns, she deflects blame. For the benefit of the school, it would be far better to have a principal who truly prioritizes student well-being, is open to parent concerns, and fosters effective communication to bring about real positive change. Mrs. Mantle should be removed from the Principal position!

My two grandchildren are in this school and it is impressive how much they have learned and how the teachers work 1:1 with them to achieve their goals. The dual language program is excellent.

My experience with this school was terrible. The teachers talk crazy to kids. The teachers don’t combat the bullying issues. I would never send my child to this school. I would NOT recommend this school at all!!!!!

I would caution parents—especially those with children who have ADHD or other disabilities—to ask detailed questions about how this school handles discipline and student safety.In our experience, the school failed to appropriately respond to a situation where my child’s privacy was violated and instead chose to discipline my child for a disability-related reaction. There was little evidence of investigation, accountability, or disability-informed support.Communication was delayed, and responsibility was shifted onto the child rather than addressing the underlying safety issue. This approach was not supportive, equitable, or consistent with best practices for students with disabilities.Schools should be places where children feel safe, protected, and understood. Unfortunately, that has not been our experience here.
